The only potential issue I can see with Kid Chameleon is... it might feel like you're controlling a kid.

    ...

Yes I know, but when you've got limitations on graphics and audio, Kid Chameleon feels like you're controlling a little man, rather than an annoying child. If they're tempted to skew the design towards younger demographics and it starts resembling a Spy Kids movie or something, it might be tough to get behind. See also: that Commander Keen reboot threat from a few years ago.

People dunk on Eternal Champions but once you take that unique Sega of America art style (and GEMS sound driver) out of the equation, and hand it to people who understand fighting games, it could be fine. I can't see how it could be worse than X-Perts... though I guess this trademark filing alone is more fun than that game.

sega of america coming back. but working with indie level devs instead of those AA devs of the 7th gen is my guess

My abiding memory of eternal champions was that the single player ai was brutal! It might have had depth but I never found out because I just got beaten up. :-D

Im personally found of KC but a new version would have to be very different in design and progression in my opinion. It's rather frustratingly designed which fits it's overall storyline and conventions of the time still dictated a very quarter-munching philosophy. Perhaps something more akin to a metroidvania or A Boy and his Blob

Why? KC's gameplay design is basically perfect for the current trends. Just toss in a randomizer and a progession system along with a hardcore mode. Turning it into anything else doesn't make sense and wouldn't play to its strength. We already have a billion Metroidvanias coming out, KC doesn't need to be another one. A Boy and His Blob is also way too slow.

Yeah, you could definitely go full roguelite with it and it would fit rather well with the modern stuff.

I'd be down for an Alex Kidd in Miracle World 2, I wouldn't even enhance the graphics, just more of the same please (freed from the memory constraints of the master system so the levels can be huge).

Hoping After Burner and the other titles with arcade origins get console ports or exclusive versions a la Climax.

  10. Genius idea! Instead of turning KC into one of the millions of metroidvanias currently on the market, we should turn it into one of the millions of roguelikes currently on the market!

In all seriousness, if I were to be in charge of a KC sequel, I would first make the gameplay less like Mario but still resembling the original game. Secondly, I would take the branching levels thing, and RUN WITH IT. Imagine, a giant world map with over 200 levels. It would be beautiful.

Random thought: I wonder if the Sonic and Sega All-Star racing series could be revived. It’d be a good way to introduce general audiences to non-Sonic Sega properties and drum up enthusiasm for more revivals

Now that the series is a relatively big deal/meme people would probably buy another Sonic and Sega All-Star Racing game just for Kiryu if he'd be put in it.

There’s a lot of potential for the cast of the new all-star racing. In addition to characters from Yakuza/Like A Dragon, Sega could add characters from Angry Birds, Persona, Bayonetta, Puyo Puyo and the 5 franchises they’ve announced revivals of.

That looks like they're getting their trademarks in order for a compilation or something. Unless this is the true nature of the "Super Game".

From what I can observe Super Game is just PSO2 type game but bigger and on Unreal 5.

It's not enough, needs to be that exact engine for maximum nostalgia! :)

I'm frustrated by how much I immediately want this. Please bring back the vehicle transformations, though. And whatever else Sonic Team Racing might've tampered with.

Rogulite are elements that encompass multiple genres. KC with those elements wouldn't play anything like Risk of Rain, Binding of Isaac or the new TLOU2 mode. Big difference between adding new rules to an established formula and completely shifting genres.

Never played it myself but my brother did, and it looked like a pretty hard game. Curious if they will try to re-create the fatalities from the original or even the Sega CD version. Those were brutal compared to Mortal Kombat's.
