Just thought this would be interesting to post since it's I think the first gameplay video recorded of any game for this obscure system from Taiwan.

It's obvious how it rips off Sonic, form the springs to the special stage even!

Looks to me more like they just copied random gameplay elements wherever they couldn't think of anything. And that jumping sound effect is annoying.

Luckily my speakers at work don't...work.

If I were SEGA/Sonic Team, I would have sued these bitches. This is identical to Sonic gameplay except you lose 10 of those whatevers at a time, and you can't jump onto enemies. But even the freaking spindash is there! Tell me this game would have happened if Sonic didn't exist!

Lame. I'd rather take a really bad Sonic 1 hack over this painful game.

I didn't notice Sonic elements until he broke into the spindash. The similarities are there. Those special stages are poorly designed.

Gotta love the "Final Countdown" music ripoff too.

The rock section looked annoying. Also, note the EHZ background ripoff.

I was beginning to fear that I was the only one who noticed that...

The special stages do seem kinda ripped off from Sonic 2, but you'd have to really know the stages to realize it, the real indicator for me is the layout of the baseballs. The influences are subtle, but they're definitely there.

It's not much of a ripoff, while some elements are definetly quite poor, it at least was programmed from scratch and it's mostly a new game.
It's not a pirate, and that's already a point in favor.
The graphics could have been more colorful but are actually decent, the music is poor, though.
The only real part where it rips Sonic off is the "spindash", which seems to act more like a super peel-out though.
As for people saying that if they were Sega they would have sued them, I can't say how much I'm laughing at you.
First, get over it, every game is influenced by another one and such. This one doesn't copy as much as some of you think.
Second thing, good luck with suing in Taiwan for this type of thing. It isn't even worth the effort.

Not to mention, with our rom hacking scene, that's like the pot calling the kettle black.

Is this console emulatable by any chance? I actually have a strange desire to play this.

I thought of this game as being a 2D Sonic and the Black Knight. =P

I guess I didn't really notice the Final Countdown ripoff though.

Not like the springs and Scrap Brain wheels weren't total rips or anything!

Also, that boss is a thing of astonishing beauty. I want to see more of this game.

The game looks interesting, I also want to see more. The graphics look really good, and the Special Stage also reminds me of Space Harrier. It's a clone, but it's a pretty nice looking one.

Ahahahaha, what the heck is going on with his death animation?

The most blatant Sonic elements I see are the spin dash and the springs.

Man, the Taiwanese beat SEGA to Sonic and the Black Knight.

I wikified Speedy Dragon. I also read up on that Super A'can system on wikipedia. The poor thing only had 12 games. Probably because they decided to release it just as the playstation and other next gen systems were getting ready for launch.

    It's not that bad!
Plenty of decent artwork, whole levels, and some good coding to get it all moving.
    What more could you want.

I'm sure they saw sonic and felt they could implement a few ideas here and there, but no more than Mr Nutz was a "Fast paced Platformer with collectables" and Wiz 'n' Liz was a "Fast Paced Platformer with collectables"...

Clones happen, and as far as clones go, that's really not a bad clone..

    |edit|But I still wouldn't class it as a Sonic clone.. More a platformer that happens to share a few assets|edit|
