Or, you know, people could just say, "Hi! I used to be X, now I go by Y," instead of assuming they'll be recognized.

 

On Discord, you can look at the user's profile to see what their *actual* Discord tag is, which should aid in helping you remember who a person is.

 

Honestly, the solution is to have something like Steam where there's a little hover-over thing that says "This user used to be known as: Supakitsune, Aurakitsune, (whatever etc old embarrassing usernames one once used)". That way, you can have piece of mind that your name has been changed finally, and the curious/confused other user can just quickly look and find out who this "new" person is.

I share your pain. Dark Sonic was just a load of nonsense until Sonic X came around and introduced an actual Dark Sonic.

Hell "Dark Sonic" originated as an orange Shadow with blue stripes... Wasn't really all that dark lol. Although I'll always remember that one time that some new member showed up here and used old fan art of a later incarnation of said fan character as their avatar :v:

 

So is this forum closing and starting anew or is it just upgrading? Will there be another trial period and test?

 

I'm pretty sure it's just a conversion from IPB to Xenforo with all members, posts, etc kept intact. So I don't think there will be another trial period and test since the site isn't merging with another one.

 

I've wanted to change my username for years, but am afraid of alienating myself. I typically just added Mania to it on other forums.....but then Sonic Mania had to come out and all....ugh

I really think the post counts should be reset to 0.
