I would love to have the PAL version (if that one exsists) so that I could play it on my hacked Saturn! I saw a Youtube video where one guy had recorded a play on camera, and the music was awesome (from what I could hear).

This is awesome and thanks for sharing some of the stuff you have found in the code, car's coming at you would have been too hard imo but it's awesome to know that they were trying it out.
I can follow but not reply there. I have a request for you, to make a video once you can show the road moving. Also explain what kind of data that makes up the final road. Curve, curve, hill, curve, etc? Also can you post a dump of the road tile layer, so that I can see the cone shape. I looked at the shape from the GBA version, and that used the shape very close to the one in Yoshi's Island.
This has really caught my attention. I want to see if this goes anywhere. But, I desperately want to see something done with Outrun 2019. I love that game a lot, more so than the original Outrun, and hope to create a fan remake of it in real 3d.
I have some information documenting the format that stores the graphics for Outrun/Turbo Outrun if you're interested. I attempted converting the code a while back, but I think I'd be able to get it working this time around.
