    Here are some examples of the project's set art style for items and objects. Notice that no automatic gradient filters are being used. Rather, manual shading with an increased number of inbetween shades to add to the detail:

    I do hate to sound awfully pedantic, but the Gaslight typeface is not an exact match, just as 'Andes' is not an exact match for the Sonic 3 font. Look at the M and W in Gaslight for proof.

    It's certainly the nearest anyone has got though without making their own file.

    Perhaps upscaled versions of the original title cards would help in getting the positioning and font exact? I don't know how difficult it is to create a font, but I'd imagine if you know how that the Gaslight font could be tidied up to better match the font in Sonic 2.

    I know of a program for turning fonts into bitmaps. Perhaps a sprite font could be better. It's still useable, but in a raw format that we can touch up and get a decent level of quality out of.

    "Act" text at the beginning of a stage: yes or no?

    I'm guessing "no" but doing so would be consistent with the "Sonic got through" text.

    Hiya!

    I took the challenge upon myself to fix some of the letters from the original. Took me about an hour in MS Paint. Changed the 'M' and 'A' in 'Emerald', and I changed the '1' because it was slightly wrong.

    Hope you like it.

    EDIT: I now realise that the 'A' in 'Emerald' may be too thin. I'll correct this tomorrow.

    It's too bad that there's really not much you can do with the title cards. They are already pretty clean graphic wise so it's not possible to add much details to it without changing the feel of it.

    I think the HD should have some sort of embellishment, like being larger and/or in a different font with more shading.

    Seeing those tilecards in HD looks like really "basic" to me.

    Please keep in mind we must stay as close to the original as possible but if there's room for improvement while not differing so much from the source, it could also be accepted.

    I'm working in design at the moment, and I'd definately say go for either the 1920's look, the subtle gradient, or perhaps some slightly visible sonic-related texture at the back of the title card =P

    Why not add the little portrait from the level select code in the title card? Might look nice if HDified.

    Agreed. This should be exactly like the original Sonic 2, but with improved graphics and sound. Anything else isn't necessary, and will serve to do nothing more than bloat the project.

    The gradient on the background is too much. Try it with just the text.

    Perhaps some motion on that red part rather than a gradient (I.e., scrolling up)? That gradient's too strong.
