New Sonic 2 development lore drop - Genocide/Cyber City palette and art!

It's been over a month since the last post, has there been any update on Twitter or anywhere else Frank posts?

 

Don't start it, cuz after few minutes here will be people who will be screaming that "HE WoRkS oN iT, bE pAtIeNt!11"
I don't expect to see anything in next few month, and don't expect to see something interesting in that documents, but I hope we will see that.

 

Frank has made life sound pretty busy on Insert Credit lately.

 

I don't think there's any point in continuing to bring this up. There's obviously nothing new, or else Frank's Twitter/X feed would say so.

However, I also don't want to see the thread get "locked", because we don't need permission to discuss Genocide City, and we wouldn't be able to.

So maybe we try to focus on Genocide City theories or something, perhaps?

 

there is also nothing to discuss. if there is, a separate unrelated thread would get made and no more would be needed

 

A second thread would be helpful because people can't seem to help but bump this one asking "there's no news but is there any news???", and then I would know which thread to ignore

 

Could someone cap the current maps so we can at least have them more easily in one place?

I admit, the total silence on this is frustrating, but it's not as if these past few months haven't given us a lot more info than we had before. I'd just like to ensure we at least have a better look at the "teased" content that's been given to us so far.

 

Honestly, we'll get actual maps 1:1 soon. I can assure you that. It's not worth the effort.

I wanted to release bits of teasers here and there of what I could get away with, but I kind of got raked over the coals in this thread so I stopped.

 

Not to detract from your candidness, but in my opinion if you didn't want to get raked over the coals then you shouldn't have released anything until it was ready. I don't know what was expected by teasing one of the biggest Sonic 2 dev info dumps while still being months off from the actual release. Even the Sonic 1 proto was teased only a few hours before it was released, and that tease was a stream of the full prototype.

 

At least we got badger sonic out of it

 

We’re all fans here, the long wait does suck but it is what it is. We’re lucky to be getting anything at all, and, respectfully, we shouldn’t be trying to justify someone being raked over the coals for something we’re getting organised and released for free from fellow fans.

Baloney. He was trying to help us while keeping his agreement to confidentiality. You should be thankful and not shoot him. If you want to be upset at someone for teasing people, you need to look to the foundation, not Hez.

 

I don't think mookey's post was to hez specifically but rather the team behind it.

 

I haven't commented on this topic until now but I'll wade in!

I don't mind waiting. I honestly keep forgetting this is coming. I'm just confused over what is still to come. We already got the maps for Genocide City which is the big thing. I think we are getting proper map images? What else is left? A few art and audio assets? I imagine we will get some interesting tidbits. But nothing on the scale of the Hidden Palace prototypes. We've been told by several people on the project not to expect anything earth shattering.

So I'm just a bit bemused by it all. Not in a negative way either. Just seems like some mildly interesting news will be announced in the unforseen future and I keep forgetting about it. So I find it weird that it's taking so long but I'm also not bothered.

 

Sorry, I'm really not trying to be antagonistic to any single person here, I simply meant that I think the some of the frustration/anticipation that this premature announcement has caused for some people could have been avoided if it had been announced closer to release. I just think it was a poor decision is all, but ultimately I think they're doing what they need to to get it fully ready.

 

Whole heartedly agree. I don't like how this was done. Better late than never I guess.

 

I enjoy theory crafting more than anything else when it comes to things like this. If someone wants to make a new thread strictly for fun theory crafting I'll toss my hat back in. I won't check this thread any further going forward given the circumstances. No one should feel compelled to release anything if they don't feel like they're ready, that much we've established. However, on the flip side we should also feel safe to discuss things and ask questions. Either lock this thread or update the OP maybe.
