Just came across these, thought it was a little out of the ordinary so thought I'd post here. Could be a good find for someone looking to add to their collection. The description says: NEW SEGA MEGA DRIVE 2 CONSOLE .Comes with box,manual,1 joypad, adapter & AV cable THIS IS PAL - Asian Version Megadrive . It is NOT NTSC-Japan . Free 3-pin covertor for UK buyer !! eBay
Makes sense, since it has the PAL-hardware-but-Japanese-branding so typical of less famous Asian territories.
Bought from this shop before. Got Asian versions of Super Shinobi II and Chiki Chiki Boys that were identical to the Japanese versions barring the text on the back of the carts being in English. Really cheap and they were in perfect condition. They still have the Super Shinobi II one, much cheaper than bidding for the Japanese one.
A bit late here... This is likely a VA0 or VA1 and thus has some crappy sound... If the bottom shows board that does not cover all vents it will be a better sounding model (VA3 or VA4).
I'm actually tempted by this as an investment. I mean, a brand new. sealed Mega Drive? That can surely only appreciate in value? I know a lot of people wouldn't appreciate buying for that reason, but it'd also be a cool part of a collection, and I already have my original Mega Drive.
This would be my reasoning too. But I'd much prefer a console of my region, rather than an asian one. How racist :v: I think an unused, sealed (I don't like to call something 20 years old "new") UK Megadrive would be more likely to appreciate in value within the UK.
