There, I scaled it properly, from the Tumblr post, using the instructions from the posts above. I wish Tumblr's image retrieval methods weren't so confusing. I've gone through the same maze.

Even if I don't end up buying the print because I'm cheap, this makes a killer iPhone background.

I decided to email Cook and Becker about this, as I felt that if I were to consider a purchase, I'd notice the pixel inconsistency and it would irk me.

Well, it turns out that they replied and were very helpful:

So, at least that's something less to worry about. I am sorely tempted to buy one, but I don't think I can afford it. However, it's a very nice piece of (pixel) artwork, so I am torn.

Ughhhhh I know I can afford it but I know I shouldn't buy it.... I'll maybe ask for it as a gift...

EDIT: I really do not give a rat's ass about that number I just want the piece framed... I'm hoping there's a way I can get it for cheaper, otherwise I'll get the thing framed myself.

It's possible to get someone else to print it, but I wouldn't call it the most ethical decision. Does the artist get paid per print sold?

Well fuck me. That came to a staggering £100.70. The £75 cost didn't include shipping nor VAT (the latter or which is unusual to see left out). I managed to snag #10 as it was the next one available, which is lucky cause it's quite a nice number. This had really better be worth it, especially as I wont actually be able to see it for a while cause I just moved to uni (same for my F4F Beat statue).

Were it not for the fact I'm getting married in a couple weeks I would totally splurge on this. That art is utterly beautiful T_T

Someone more talented than I should take a stab at making a "classicified" version of it.

Partially. It'd be neat to see Amy, the Chaotix and Eggman using their old designs too. I might at least attempt to later, but I know someone would one up me at some point eventually.

  12. I'm number 11, so I am cautiously excited/disgusted at myself as well

You'll have to let me know, because I won't be seeing mine for God knows how long. But it's definitely going to get framed and go up on a wall somewhere. Can't get over just how much I like for it for pixel art. Pixel art can be really nice, but rarely "hang it up on the wall" nice, if you know what I mean. It would be great (or awful, depending on the state of my bank balance) if they went ahead and produced another more like some of those concept pieces.

  16. I definitely agree with you. I like the piece conceptually but never thought I'd buy pixel art to hang on the eall. Hoping it looks nice, and that framing it won't cost too much. Will be checking back when I get it!
