My theory on the R2 level from Sonic CD

    On the stage select, R2 does not appear. Could it be Mercury Mines, a desert level, or a ruins level? Post any theories you have.

    If you hack a ROM/Savestate to go to R2, will it crash the game or send you to a Genocide City-type level (fall forever)?

    I think if you tweak a savestate a little bit, you may get to R2 leftovers, except they will be like HPZ from Sonic 2 final, and you will fall forever.

    That's about it... since Sonic CD runs on a file system, and R2 has been absolutely deleted, you might get an empty area, depending on what type of error trapping the game program did. (Another outcome is that it would just freeze when it fails to load a level file.)

      Don't mind him.  He thinks everyone with plausable theories should be banned.

      Anyway. . .  If you look at the files on any PC version of Sonic CD -- or any Sega CD version for that matter -- there is no R2.  I'm sure a majority of you knew that.  So, in theory, if someone hacked a save game to try and load what we seem to know as "R2 Zone" -- due to lack of any solid information -- then chances are, the game would give you a buttload of hexidecimal coding only programs would be able to decode.  Much like the time I somehow managed to crash Rockman DASH 2(Megaman Legends 2) just by playing it normally.  o.o

    Well, if it was to try and load R2, it could do any of the following:

    A) Crash (with Sonic sprite showing and/or the time,score,lives, etc info)

    B) Show random gibberish

    C) Die by falling forever

    D) load R3

    E) freeze with a blank screen

    F) could even show an error screen(anyone who owns OoT and done VG X's CCT code should know what I mean)

    Or soem others....

    Or maybe load R1 with no solid ground, like if you use GameGenie code ACLA-ACD4 to load Level 01 in Sonic 2 final.
