My first Hacking Project

I think I can say for certain then quick man that there is a dust hill (mystic cave) but no desert graphics for the 'desert level'.

 

It's easy to agrue the pants off this, but we can't know for sure unless we get Naka on the phone or get an earlier beta. This is going quite offtopic too.

 

yeah! I agree. lets just give this guy some ideas. Maybe you should port some levels from other sonic games and maybe bring in some new characters. I'd like to see Star Light Zone & Doomsday Zone. You can edit sprites with Sonik Sprite. I found that on Sonicology. Or alternatively you can just screw with the pallete to make some cool characters. Do a website so we can all check on the progress. I can build one if you want.

 

Character recolours are NOT new characters.
Obviously, Shadow is exempt.

Pallet edit Sonic and Tails, sure, but change the sprites if you're going to give them different names and claim them as different characters. Otherwise it's not very creative.

Do a level like Hydrocity Zone also. That would be cool.

 

I thought he was aiming for an alpha Sonic 2? Most of Hex's suggestions would be rather out of place, no?

My opinion: just avoid Dust Hill Zone. It's not worth your time getting berated by both sides about opinions.

I would like to see casino night with the beta graphics but edited to fill the gaps in and make it look more complete.

 

I'd like to contest this. Hex is not difficult to understand at all - it took me two hours tops to work it out.

Think of the numbers from one to ten:

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10

Notice that rather than having a new symbol for ten we use the original 1 followed by 0. It's almost like we're saying "one ten and no singles". Here's how hex does it - and remember, this is perfectly analogous:

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B C D E F 10

Rather than flipping to two digits when we get to ten, we hang on and put letters in until we reach sixteen when we say 10 - "one sixteen and no singles".

Now we get a little more technical - we've defined arbitrary numbers "ten" and "sixteen" for regular numbers and hex - we'll call that number the base for our number system. (Numbers in different bases are a rich area of mathematics which is beyond the scope of this explanation.) Regular numbers are base 10 (sometimes we call it "decimal" - remember Latin decem = 10?) and hex is base sixteen (hence hexadecimal = 16).

 

ok. Dust hill was (as far as I am aware) a scrapped level. It never made it to the final game so it was scrapped. So ok, I won't call it dust hill because this also refers to Mystic Cave Zone in the beta so I shall now refer to it as the 'desert zone'.

Dust Hill wasn't ditched, just renamed. Also, it was never a desert.

I don't see how it does, nothing points towards that besides what the old rumors said.

 

Just because it sounds like to you doesn't mean it sounds like to the hopped-up-on-more-drugs-than-people-taking-chemotherapy minds at Sega/STI. Dust Hill was Mystic Cave; the desert was never named.

 

I still maintain we don't know that for 100% sure. What that should read is:

"Dust Hill has only ever been Mystic Cave outside of the scene's theories; we don't know the desert zone's real name if it ever had one."

Edit: Fuck it, it's a week's bump. I don't care =P

 

The kid's got a point. Dust Hill does sound Texasy, but I can imagine a real life Mystic Cave Zone being quite dusty.

All we know is that Dust Hill Zone = Mystic Cave Zone as much as Neo Green Hill Zone = Aquatic Ruin Zone.

 

Yes, the S2B answers that, but to me a HILL and a CAVE are totally different places. At least it is in geographic classifications...
But I agree that the only truth we got till now is: MCZ = DHZ

end of story till someones shows up with some true evidences that they're not the same.

 

BTW, Neo Green Hill Zone = The first level of Sonic Advance 1 too.

EDIT: Just noticed that Dust Hill is everywhere on this message board now. The day we'll find the real name for this desert level, this place will be dead. :lol:
