This is bound to stir up a little controversy, I'm quite sure.


Got a sketch for speed shoes and invincibility music; naturally the idea here borrows a fair bit from the Game Gear and SMS titles.

Naturally the names are more guidlines than directions, but the one labeled "speed shoes" is at a higher tempo.

 

It seems like you're restraining yourself to making it sound like it came out of a Genesis.

Don't do that.

 

I'm not, I've just got a lame sample set.

 

Quick first level type of thing, done somewhat Genesis style. Included the MIDI to see if anyone can make anything better out of it.

I must say, that is one happy song :v:

Although I'm not a musician, the sound this song produces is too highpitched and a bit generic. It would be much more interesting if it had some actual "jungle" instruments: Jungle Drum, Rainstick,...

 

Once I get Fruity Loops behaving on this PC here, I'll do a non-Genesis version. :3

Well, I kind of liked the skysurf2 one. Also, waterfall wasn't very bad either. But the rest of the tunes were kind of repetetive in my opinion. Also, even if it was mp3 it sounded like midi... But those two might would fit somewhere into the game. Maybe it didn't have very much Sonic style. Also, Sonic style in 1996, then I think of Sonic Xtreme :v: The music that was used in Sonic 3D Blast sounded like midi, but in Sonic Xtreme it was perfect.

So, I think you folks who work on this project should try to make the music Sonic Xtreme-ish

But of course, that is not my decision.

 

Someone work with this one to make it better for Gods sake.

I tried to go for something like Aquatic Ruin Zone in style. Comments, critiques, whatever: all welcome.

Am I going in the right direction?

 

I did some things to the 'Blue Surf' .mid file in guitar pro, just changed the instruments and slowed it down to 150bpm, a few tied notes and things too. nothing too spectacular.

It needs a boost when we come to the second pattern. A new instrument.
I can't say much though. To me, It's pretty much the same song with another synthesizer. Good job though.
