  1. Whenever I hear the beginning of this song, I'm always reminded of this.

Rick Astley :specialed: - She Wants To Dance With Me (Album: Hold me in your arms) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7soU2YXl0XA

The bass sounds exactly like the one from the Mega Drive Sonic 3! It blew my mind when I first heard it.

Also Dial my number http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nfVgmY3EPI has some Sega Genesis sound instruments!

Michael Jackson - We are here to change the world is really awesome! The bass and the instruments keeps me pumped with retro-filled goodness! It reminds me of a sequel to a Sonic/MJ game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhuRL4N5d0w

    ...also RICK JAMES - Hypnotize

(Sorry for the month long bump)

Edit: Oh yeah, this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNWhiaPqxfY (at 0:16) reminds me of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xhDDqlKd-g#t=1m10s

Bubba Sparx - Back in the Mud.

The beginning at least sounds like it would fit quite well with one of Eggman's bases or something, filled with twisty corkscrews and loops. Or maybe it's just me.

    Various Artwork & Music, :smug:
Some of Capsule's music has that bouncy 80's-style Sonic vibe to it.

And here's one for the music comparison thread. Listen closely and you might hear some familiar samples:

Personally the song that's always reminded me of Sonic is the theme song of Captain Falcon from F-Zero GX/AX

To me, everytime I listen to this:

I get this vision in my mind, where Sonic turns into Super Sonic, is full of pain, anger and goes running around and defeating stuff. The whole place looks broken, all buildings are old, everything is abadoned. Sonic finds a revenge to Eggman. He sometimes sings the lines too.

When I first heard Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Outta My Head" (shaddup!), I though it kinda sounded like something you might hear in Star Light Zone.

Another would be No Doubt's "Running" (or whatever it's called), like maybe the ending to Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

I'll let you know if I think of others... unless I run out of posts in my trial.

This music specially, makes me remember totally Sonic CD and Sonic OVA (actualliy, it's really similar to the one of the scene Sonic runs to Land of Darkness)

From what's been posted, I would definitely agree that Paul Hardcastle's music, in particular the basslines, have an essence of Sonic in them. A lot of music produced by Stock, Aitken and Waterman in the 1980s share this style of bassline, mainly those programmed by Phil Harding.

As for my contribution, I find the music of Howard Jones has a classic Sonic feel in not just the basslines, but the main synths and compositions too:
    -New Song (1983)
    -What Is Love? (1983)
    -Pearl in the Shell (1984)
