Here I am again, and I bring you people my second attempt at Oil Ocean Zone:

I thought that it had an Arabian theme, so I kinda tried to go with that. Sorry if it doesn't sound good, but I at least tried to make it sound ok.

The instruments are really out of sync, and the way each note starts sounds jagged and unnatural.

 

Ouch. That one really needs some in-depth TLC ancara. Whatever tweaking you've done to the notes needs to be stripped away. RedStripedShoes hit the nail on the head with that one.

 

Alright, I talked to Laurent, and I've got a little subdomain thing set up for music hosting. If you're a musician for Sonic 2 HD and want hosting on my server, PM me with your desired login/subdirectory name and password, as well as whether you want to use FTP, or if you're not experienced with that, just a plain old PHP file upload script. (If you're wondering why to use my server instead of a regular free file host? Hotlinking allowed, no wait times, no inactivity removals, assloads of bandwidth, and not to mention the fact that if we all use this, all the music will be accessible in one place.)

Hey, a little update on the music thing: I got a nice template for it, what do you guys think?

 

Seems pretty solid.

P.s. The logo image looks more like a compressed Jpeg than a .PNG!

 

Eheh, probably because the source was a JPG? I'm not sure if it was, I just googled the S2HD logo and found that and used it. If someone could shoot me a better copy at 576px width I could probably fix that.

My Hill Top Zone mix is finished. It's taken a while as the instrument has been an odd one. I'd tried a Banjo, Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, different types of Horns and even Violins but managed to find a Harpischord that fitted it quite well. I left out the crash as the ones I have just don't sound right even with tweaking but I think it sounds great without one anyway.

But seriously, I think all you need to do now is just raise the volume of the drums, and it'll be ready for S2HD.

I would but they are just under from peaking the levels and if I lower the instruments it might sound out of level with the rest of the other music. If this gets the go ahead I'll arm the tracks, upload them and someone with mastering skills can finish it off.

 

I have to agree with RSS, the clap doesn't do much for me either. The earlier version you posted up sounded great to me as it was.

 

Have you listened to the latest one without the clap? Are ya happy with that?

 

I actually personally like it more with the clap (it adds an extra bit of rhythm, especially to that beginning section), but both versions sound fine.

 

I agree with Hinchy, I like the clap. However, It needs some more bass. Like RSS said, I think the drums need to be louder
Otherwise, It's a very good mix. ^^

 

I like the way it sounds, but still think it could be better. I'm not sure what instrument it is, sounds like a "harmonica" to me, the noise which comes in after the very first cords, I think it is too high pitched. I would turn the music down if I were playing the game because it would get annoying very fast. As well, I think at the part where it fluctuates is too echoey. Lastly, a clap seems right to me, when I replay the song in my head, I add a clap because it seems more catchy. But hey, what do I know, my internal soundtrack has been the B-52's as long as I can remember. So hurry up and bring your juke box money!

 

That part's supposed to be more quiet, the clap just ruins the mood of it.

The "no clap" version sounds pretty good, however.
