Where was Blaze and Cinossu's Sonic 2 music site? There was some nice CNZ rendition in there too, and it's not in this topic's first post.

    EDIT: Found it: Link

EDIT: ScubaSteve's sounds pretty cool as well, by the way.

Here is the final edition of Metropolis Zone's Theme. This is the last one I will ever do. I promise. :) Edit: I think.

Tweaker's recently posted renderings and some time in FL Studio are all I needed to finally finish it. I left the reverb out like as posted since I found that with it removed, everything has a much cleaner feel to it. IMHO, it sounds really damn good if not perfect.

    Edit: Updated MP3 Link.

Man, is there somewhere else you can upload that? I'm getting severe buffering issues, and that site doesn't appear to let me download the file at all.

Also, I think you synced Guitar1 back in wrong, because it has a small delay from where it would normally play. If you can PM me your FLP, I can add it to my version manually.

It sounds very good, but the guitar effects could be improved... and also the scratching effect we were speaking about earlier doesn't sound right.

I'll work on fixing the scratching effect—I just need to find a new sample. It won't be terribly hard.

While I'm at it, I should try and find other creative liberties I can make upon my previous render.

...But first let's try to finish the "original" version, pretty please. =(

I didn't mean in arrangement, I meant in overall sound. It's been a while since I made that render, and there's many things that I'd do to improve upon it if I did it again.

I'll try and fix the guitar effects. I have the original clean recordings off Cubase I can use.

I thought Tweaker's MZ version that's out now was pretty good. I hope drastic changes aren't made to the overall sound of it.

  12. I'm sorry, but something about it just doesn't click. No offence to you, but I feel that Blaze's and even DJ Playuh's sounds much more polished and complete. They really sound like HD versions of the Genesis tracks. Yours sounds improved, but not at a top level. It just leaves me feeling a bit empty :/

Please don't think I'm picking on you, cause I'm not. But I really don't think this'll cut it, at least not in my books. Again it feels incomplete and lacking. I don't feel a very inspired vibe from this. It doesn't sound like true HD. It's just... okay.

Blaze's on the other hand, while not perfect, definitely captures the feel of a bustling casino at night... hint Casino Night Zone. It really makes me happy to hear. Casino Night Zone is probably my favorite zone in Sonic 2, and one of my alltime favorites in Sonic games. Blaze's version gives me a great happy-go-lucky feeling, just like the original did.

Again, I'm not trying to pick on you and kiss up to Blaze. I just truly believe that Blaze's arrangements are better suited for this project. That's all :/

    Blaze's version? Where's that?

  14. Sorry, I didn't think that was right o.o But I thought last page people were talking about it being Blaze's arrangement.. but anyways, it's Cinossu's. Sorry bout that.

But that just further solidifies my point that I'm trying to pick the best music from what I hear, regardless of the person doing the arrangement. So don't take it personally.

I actually thought that sounded pretty cool for some reason.

I've been wanting to do a rendition of Casino Night Zone 2 player for a while now myself.

    CNZ 2p

I didn't loop it, and started a continuation that I'm not sure I should complete. Should I bother expanding the song like that or is that too unfaithful? The horns kind of sound Sonic Adventure-ish

  19. I like this for its simplicity, but I do not like the fact that there has been stuff added on at the end; you should not expand the continuation, but try to make the song more faithful to the original. The music should use the same melodies as the original Sonic 2 music, otherwise you will likely loose the sonic 2 feeling.

I would also suggest that you replace the electric guitar with some other instrument patch.

As to that, it's always possible to retain a similar feeling if you continue to use the rhythmic texture of the song (and variations of the themes/motifs themselves), but I'm sure that would sound jarring to whomever wasn't expecting those sounds to be there.

On the topic of continuations, what's your opinion on segas extended version of Lava Reef Zone 1? It was never in s&k but it was a fairly different direction for them to take.

Edit: it's an mp3 track off some album sega released after the fact I think. I'm going to have to do some digging around because I don't have it anymore (hdd crashes). If I find it I'll pm you
