Nowhere in your post, but you didn't mention what you were replying to in the first place so I just assumed you were talking about the last submission.

    Also, that jingle is awesome.

That sounds really good except the deeper horn. It sounds kinda... I dunno, it just doesn't sound very good to me.

I'm hearing a distinctly unauthentic property in all the brass.

But I really, REALLY like the direction you're taking this.

By they way, I can't remember if I said this before, but I would like the Sky Chase Zone music to be remastered as a single one-shot tune clocked at 2 minutes 6 seconds (the very minimum length of the level, as proven by this TAS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtDl-0B5U-g, skip to 17:35.

    EDIT: Link fixed.

I'll mess with the brass a bit, I currently have the trumpet section playing the higher notes and french horns playing the lower notes (the "deeper horn", as Gambit called it). Regarding their "unathenticity", that's a bit odd, considering its all samples, but I'll see if I can improve it anyways.

Awesome! If I may ask, what does Teezord use for the instruments? I've been using quantum leap software as of late (supposedly as good/realistic as it gets), but I can't seem to get the same sounds (or "feelings") others do. [E] There's always the possibility I just don't know what I'm doing, of course.

Well, changed the deeper horn (french horns) to trombones, made a slight adjustment to the trumpets but they're mostly the same. I've made a few additions as well, but most of them aren't very noticeable, just a small thing with the strings here and some additional percussion there.

Ehh, if you mean to somehow elongate the song to that length by adding additional sections to the music (using creativity, matching the song, etc.), I'm the wrong person.

The kind of additional sections I was thinking of were merely the main part looped (like the original), but growing stronger and more elaborate each time, with the final section being cut or lengthened to fit the remaining time.

Ohh, that makes sense, considering the level is at a set length, what with the plane and all. All right, I'll try something out.

My take on Mystic Cave Zone. I had quite a bit of fun choosing the right instruments for each part. Did ya know that what ya hear at about 0:20 to 0:37 and other parts like it was done by using both a kalimba and agogo together for it? I figured it'd work to make it sound like you were in a cave...or a cave-like setting at least.

Hope ya like what I did, and tell me what I could do to improve it, okies? :3

Sometimes I have to think of the song in the context of the game, not as music alone, and that really changed my perspective of it.

Anyways, I believe the overall feeling you've given the song fits the level very nicely, I see the level in my head and I can easily imagine this song playing in the background. I wasn't sure about the tremolo-sounding lead instrument(s) at first, but after considering the level, I think it fits in just fine.

As for improvements, at the moment, nothing comes to mind.

Edit: Well then, no other posts regarding ancara's Mystic Cave Zone ..? I guess I'll just leave this here, then.

    Sky Chase Zone v3

Exactly 2:08 as requested, but I left in the "reverb tail" ahead of it, so technically it's about 2:17. I considered adding a choir nearing the end, but I feared it would sound too busy, so I left that out.

Always good to hear pieces from you ancara. There's things I like and don't like in this. The trombone/tuba/whatever bass horn you used for the deep 'doo-whop' is simple, but adds a ton to it. Your beats in the background I actually had to go back and listen to again just for analysis because I didn't notice them the first time around -- they fit that well. Same thing for the guitar. The trills midway through the loop could use reworking. Instead of having them sharply go from one set of the notes to another, I'd like to hear them blend up and down through the scale at the relevant places. They also transition from one set to the next just a hair too late, and it's distracting. The instrument that goes back and forth between two notes in a one-two-three-four-five pattern needs more volume.

This is a nitpick, but it helps for organizing them -- please save your future submissions out like *zone title*version#*(your name)*.

    My two cents. :)

Compsense, I'm really liking the improvements you've made. The beginning finally feels like it should. All the original flute parts you added are fantastic. The section with the bass drum hits leading up to the extended crash cymbal is unexpected, but works perfectly.

This is one piece where I think you could get relaxed about how the notes line up. Mixing up the spacing between them ever so slightly, as well as the start points for segments could add a ton of character to it. SCZ is an instance where this actually works better instead of strictly adhering to original beat placement. The transition to the ending felt abrupt too, almost like you just did a quick crossfade from the middle of the piece to the end of the song ahead of time. Maybe find a way to work in the section I mentioned earlier with the bass hits/crash in for the end part instead?

I'm really liking the SCZ. Still needs work on the instruments mainly the lead but is the best I've heard of it. The leads sounds seems too energetic and more for a boss track than for a casual track. If they were toned down with more mellow horns or trumpets or the sustain had a gradual fall to them it should give it a more fitting sound.
