I was wondering if anyone out there has some OPMS from Sonic 1, 2 and/or 3 that I can use with VOPM. I saw a topic with Sonic 1 OPMS, and I downloaded the ZIP file but I accidentally deleted it! Today I went back to the topic but it was GONE! :argh: I want to compose music using those OPM files, so can anyone help me?

Please define "OPMS". Google is useless here.

Although I did accidentally do a search on PMS. That was fun.

FM voices. OPM maps the voice data to readable ASCII.

I can convert the Sonic 3 UVB to OPM if you want.

Because the file extension is OPM. OPMs is the plural...

That said, I couldn't find any info on that either o_O Some stuff hinting at downloads, but I think it was just a coincidence because it talked about MP3 downloads...

    EDIT: ninja'd.

You can always rip/copy the voices through KMod Gens, too.

Thanks, Andlabs! That would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the (broken) link to the post that I was talking about that had a zip with Sonic OPMS:
    http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?sho...2753&st=195
    Quote from Google:
"Here is a zip file containing all the FM voices from Sonic 1 (and a few square wave voices too, I think) in opm format. To load opm files into VOPM, ..."

I might try that later. Thanks for the idea.
EDIT: Would you kindly explain how to do that? I downloaded it and I don't see a thing for ripping OPM files. Do I have to convert them somehow (I don't know anything about hacking, so sorry if this is a stupid question)?

Go into CPU>Debug>Debug YM2612 or whatever it is. Choose the channel, then tell it to dump the voice currently being used on that channel. You'll see the button straightaway.

I'll have the UVB ready by tomorrow.

I did that but theres no option for OPM files. I did save as a TFE file and used in TFM music maker, but I'm having trouble using it because the instructions are not in english. I'm looking up instructions at this very moment. Also, thanks for the OPM conversion. Do you want me to credit you if I use the music in a game or something?

Go to the TFM Music Maker website. There, you'll find a program VOPMxTFI. You can use that to convert the TFI files to OPM files.

And no; they're just voices; so you don't need to credit me. In fact, I don't know who made those voices; but they would probably be the ones asking for credit (hey: it's their voices). You can credit me (Pietro Gagliardi) if you want to.

Ok I downloaded VOPMXTFI and it doesn't seem to work. I tried dragging the file onto the program, I tried running the program with the TFI file in the folder... nothing. It is a command line/ms dos program that just opens and closes so fast I don't get a chance to see what it says. Could it be because I use windows XP?

EDIT: I'm having lots of fun with TFM music maker. I made a recreation of the GHZ theme (minus DAC samples and PSG square wave sounds and noise) from Sonic 1, and am putting in a song I composed myself. Since I have some experience with Famitracker, I learned most of the program fairly quickly, but I had to look up english directions because the help documentation was in Russian.

Run it from the command line interpreter. It's a Win32 command line program (those exist).

And glad to hear you like TFM. The help documentation is in English; you just have to choose to read that part. And if you don't need VOPM, I could give you the UVB in TFI format.

Well I still need OPMS, because my original plan was to do composing in FL studio using VOPM, and 2 soundfonts I made: one is for the PSG square wave, and one is for the PSG Noise and DAC samples (the soundfont with PSG noise and DAC samples compiles samples from Sonic 1, 2, and 3). I would use TFM Music Maker, but the fact that it only supports the YM2612 chip and not PSG and DAC samples prevents me from doing so. I tried recording the 3 separately and trying to synchronize the files, but it didn't work out that well.

Also, I was using version 1.0 of TFM when I said that there were no English instructions. TFM 1.0 has no instructions in English, but I downloaded TFM 1.4 today which has English instructions like you said.

EDIT: I STILL can't get it to work. I put in this:
    Code (Text):
    1. D:\>VOPMXTFI\VOPMXTFI.EXE D:\VOPMXTFI\OUTPUT.OPM D:\VOPMXTFI\CHANGE1.TFI
    And I got this message:
    Code (Text):
    1. OK: 0 instruments were converted successfully

All right. I wasn't able to do the conversion, so here's the UVB in the original SMPS form: http://idisk.mac.com/pietro10-Public/uvb.bin.

I will be offline (but not off the computer) until Saturday, so there's nothing else I can say right now.

The link is broken? Really? It seems to work fine, for me. I'll upload it somewhere else, then.
Also, I can try and see if I can convert the Sonic 2 voices to TFI format. (No guarantees, though... :psyduck: )

I have used vgm2opm before to rip voices for VOPM. I tested it with songs from Sonic 1 and Sonic 3D blast.

Actually, the link to the zip folder was not broken (thanks for posting it), the link to get to the topic that had the link was outdated.
EDIT: The link to the topic is back up! Sorry, I didn't know. When I tried to open it a few days ago, it didn't work.
