I'm helping Nemesis out with his project to dump all of the Mega LD laseractive titles. Here are some pics I'll be sending them off soon, just got to wait for one more I bought recently to arrive. Australia post has better take good care of them.
What's the likelyhood of raising about $1600 in the next couple of days? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Myst-Pioneer-LaserActive-Mega-LD-Test-Disk-110-Double-Sided-/151223300519 I'll pay for half if I can scrounge up the other half. (Of course, this is just me using your money to add to my collection, but I'll get it dumped too).
It's not a laseractive game, it's just a laserdisc promotional video of mega drive and mega cd games. I had a quick look and didn't notice any obvious beta footage, but I'm not familiar with all of the games. I'm going to get Nemesis to take a dump of it and get it online.
This trend made me look up videos of some of these games. Rocket Coaster is maybe the biggest surprise to me, never seen a FMV game that actually lets you slow down the footage and even stop it like that before. Also perfect ports of Time Gal and Road Avenger, even better than the Saturn versions due to resolution :O
If there's a mister moneybags out there who wants to rescue this from the hoarders, you've got a couple of hours to act. SUPER RARE SEALED Quiz Econosaurus LDROM2 Pioneer LaserActive Laser Disc I put some modest bids on, but have been outclassed. I don't have an N-1/N-10 pac, so it's not much use to me.
THE EARTH WILL SOON BE DEPLETED... AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! (Wow a guilt trip nature quiz game? Interesting.)
The great thing is that he is also working on writing an emulator that will play these. I've seen his posts on other forums recently about the project. I'm actually surprised this wasn't done a long time ago as old as the system is. I guess back then people just didn't realize it could be done. There was one other person working on it too except that guy was not willing to do the porn ones. On the site I read this on, someone replied that they were willing to do the porn titles in his place so that 100% will be preserved.
Ok in that case the guy who posted this on Digitpress wasn't Nemesis, but a new guy with the same goal. Somebody linked the new guy to Nemesis' post saying that this kind of project was already started and should team up with him.
It's rare, but I've received a number of laser discs in pieces through the mail. Shipping these things is always the scariest part.
Your risk-running is for the greater good of the long-term gaming community archive, Eggfan. Grateful that you're doing this for all of us. =P
The sellers willing to give me 3 months to pony up the dough. Do you reckon we could rally 20 awesome individuals to send me $5 a week for the next 12 weeks. That gets me $1200 in 3 months, and I can manage the rest. Any volunteers to help me fund the dump of this rare piece of gaming history?
