I think I speak for everyone when I say the world would benefit from a modern rerelease of Golf Magazine: 36 Great Holes Starring Fred Couples.
The 32X version of Doom is notoriously awful, but then again Doom ought to run fine on any off-the-shelf Linux computer as proven by serveral Android games running on its source code. The lack of mouse look is also beneficial for a standard controller setup too. Bethesda is throwing away money by not making mini console stocking-stuffers loaded with their games. Maybe 3D realms, too.
Sega seems to have hinted at a TMNT game (most likely Hyperstone Heist) being included with this tweet.
There are only two games, of course it will be Hyperstone Heist. The other one is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters.
Well...no Turtles then...but a few surprises! - Tetris - Darius - Road Rash II - Strider - Virtua Fighter 2 - Alisia Dragoon - Columns - Dynamite Headdy - Kid Chameleon - Monster World IV - Light Crusader - Eternal Champions
VF2 Genesis just won't die, will it? Isn't the Tetris on Genesis unreleased? Eternal Champions must make this an M-rated package. Glad EA let Road Rash II in, also. This is a very solid collection.
Boo no Sonic 3, but that was pretty much a given. Very surprised to see Tetris on there, however. Edit: Here's the complete list for the Japanese Mega Drive Mini: Darius Tetris Columns Monster World IV Dynamite Headdy Assault Suits Leynos Langrisser II Alisia Dragoon Road Rash II Slap Fight MD Snow Bros. No, it was recalled. There are a very small number of copies left in existence, but it's not unreleased. This new set rounds up a very solid title set for the Mega Drive Mini! I look forward to release. Also, those accessories for it are adorable.
Someone's going to want to dump that version of Tetris - there's no way it'll have the same wonky copyright information. Might be interesting actually - The Tetris Company has guidelines that didn't exist back in 1988. They might have been forced to change things.
Watched the feed - it looks like the arcade version! Also there's a version of Darius in there. The Mega Drive never received a port of the original Darius (Darius II yes, but not the first one). So I guess that's why the count has been upped to 42 - 40 actual Mega Drive games, and two which aren't. Maybe.
Alicia Dragoon is a fantastic game that's hard as balls, and I assumed would be too obscure for this, so I'm pleasantly surprised! Monster World IV is another great game, as well as Dynamite Headdy as well as Light Crusader. I can safely pass on the rest, but this is still a solid collection overall.
Honestly the exclusion of Sonic 3 is reaching an annoying point here. It's to be expected and yet I can't help but be baffled that Sega hasn't attempted any statements about it at all to clear things up or explain why they exclude all home releases this past gen besides PC and previous crappy plug-n-play consoles.
Huh. So Play-Asia is selling US Genesis minis as well as Asian Genesis minis. Anyone know if anything is different between the two? In fact, we know the Asian Mega Drive mini has games exclusive to it, so I also wonder if there is a difference between these Asian Mega Drive and Genesis minis.
The game list is very solid, sad that Rocket Knight didn't make it but I have to say it is fucking tragic that they are apparently trapped and can't celebrate Sonic 3. One of the most defining genes for the system there is
I think the list is solid, but I'm still skipping. I think Sonic 3 and Knuckles is the single greatest game Sega has ever produced. Why don't they spend more effort trying to work out the legal problems? Replace the music even. Do whatever it takes, geez.
According to this, Asia (outside of Japan) is getting freaking Alien Soldier. Why are we not getting it? That's so disappointing. It's legitimately a top 5 game on the console and if not for Sega of America stupidly leaving it on Sega Channel (and giving it a real, proper localization here), it'd be considered an all-time classic.
