I definitely would like to see the blue ring in the game. But when it comes to those sluggish sneakers, I don't like how the Super-Peel-Out is made a bad thing. Actually, I found it to actually give me slightly more resulting speed than the spindash. I think that both moves should be included. Some ideas: Spindash is fast to execute, but does not give you as much speed as the Super-Peel-Out. (But it gives you as much speed as in Sonic 2 for example.) -Would help if you are about to die and you need to get out of the danger immediately. Super-Peel-Out leaves you vulnerable, and takes longer to charge (Think Sonic CD spindash, which is ironic since it took long to charge, but the roles are now reversed) but gives you a speed advantage over the spindash.- Maybe like the boost in Sonic Unleashed, it will allow Sonic to launch himself off ramps farther and higher than with a spindash, or a walk.
While we're talking about power-ups, Blue Ring (or Metal Ring, or Combine Ring, or whatever it's called) is a good idea; I'd say it's a must to put in the game. On top of that, I want to propose a new shield while we're at it. I was going to save this for one of my future projects, but for the sake of this project, I'll contribute it to the team. Jelly Shield: It's a green shield that allows the player to bounce harmlessly off spikes. It also gives the player the ability to jump up and off walls.

It's just a bad edit of the Sonic 1 sprite, with a new pallete, and shoes, and way to big of eyes. Hell, look at the legs, you can still see part of the sonic 1 sprites pallete.

Even though #4 is supposed to be more accurate I think exaggerating his spikes a bit more like in #3 makes them seem, well, more like spikes.
Those sprites are starting to look loverly! Allow me to present this sprite to trash/masturbate furiously over... It's an experimental thing obviously, but I wanted to recreate the mean and moody look that Sonic has on the Eur Sonic CD cover.
OH GOD MY EYES! Middle spike is horrible, and shoes are out of style. And why is his skin so TAN? He's not a Mexican.

I feel that's the main thing of making him look chubby in the face, at last tone it down. Other than this, the spike shape is finally great, and I like the eyes. It's just that Sonic's face appears a little fat, that's all. And for the record, any future posts by Chimpo which contain one derisory sentence with absolutely no value at all won't be tolerated, and will be deleted. Granted, he is a very talented spriter, as has been proven. But there's a limit to the bullshit we can take.
I really liked the shine on the cheek, but now I think it takes too much attention out of people's eyes. Okay, I did tone it down.
Heheheh, I see what you did - removed one white pixel, and it actually makes a lot of difference. Better. I like this.
Well I hate the Sonic 3 sprite too. Because of that, and because his hands are huge and his arms are horribly short in it. And the mouth. And the overly long levels no wait that has nothing to do with the sprites EDIT: Oh hey, that one up there looks pretty cool actually.
Tried my hand at Tails. And once again Rave, I know you don't like people editing your sprites. He shares Sonic's grays now, the other pallete made him look chubby IMO. Also, put together a mockup.
Please, to be including Knuckles on mockups -- so we can see how the characters and scenery work together (And include non-chubby-cheek Sonic). Thanks And, Tails seems ever so small there. I actually like this, it makes him appear cuter. What does anyone else think?
That is non-chubby-cheek Sonic. It's from Raves last post. Edit Oops, in the sprite sheet, I guess I did use chubby Sonic, in the mockup he's fixed though. Also, he's 1 pixel taller than the S2 Tails. Knuckles included.
