https://limitedrungames.com/collections/sonic-adventure-merch pre-orders open. I have a feeling this stuff will sell quickly. Weirdly enough the thing I'm most interested in is the Big the Cat fishing hat lol Debating whether to get anything from this, I missed out on that Stray Rats collab and now that shit is impossible to find online.
I'd personally go for the skate decks, the vibes on them are perfect, but I'm not looking to burn probably upwards of $150 CAD given the USD conversion and shipping.
It is impossible to create something cooler than that poster. I bought it without any hesitation. Holy shit. Also very much considering that Big fishing hat.
I'm definitely out of the loop here, why is Limited Run so hated? I've seen this sentiment a lot, I've only ever bought something from them once tbh
Have you seen merch prices elsewhere lately? A $30 hat seems reasonable to me, I've definitely seen higher
Does LRG have a sizing guide? Thinking of getting the hoodie but I want to make sure it's the right fit.
There's one or two legitimate gripes, but for the most part it's people complaining about the model, when it's the only practical way some games are ever going to get physical releases. LRG gets the most focus because it's the biggest one, despite other outfits like Strictly Limited basically doing the exact same thing (or worse, if there's no preorder window for a given title! LRG stopped doing that.)
Just bought Big the Hat and the poster. I can't see any appeal in the cards though; not that I really collect cards, but I get the feeling they'll be mostly old CG and drawn promo art, which can't be interesting even for a dedicated card collector.
I think my main issue with LGR is that we’ve gone from supporting smaller releases of smaller games and indie games to publishing games for larger publishers that did not need to be limited in the first place (The Yakuza Switch and Xbox releases they’ve published recently and this merch is what I immediately think of). On top of oftentimes them locking in exclusivity for a physical release of a game in North America thats available elsewhere in a non limited fashion (Streets of Rage 4 as an example). So yeah it sucks. They’re not the worst, but the shift they’ve made in the last decade really hasn’t been great if you’re a physical games collector, even moreso when they release oftentimes kind of shit collectors editions for large publishers. I will say though, removing the limit on preorders was a very good thing, as it entirely stopped games immediately disappearing due to scalpers. But at the same time I do not think that they needed to release this merch, at all. Sega could have dropped this on their merch store for a far more reasonable price, but I guess that doesn’t appeal to scalpers as much.
I'm a sucker who got the pin and the poster. The Adventure art continues to be the coolest. from my experience, company merch stores are never reasonable either. or, at least, maybe I'm just jaded because Square Enix charges $80 for a blind box that might contain a portrait of a FFXIV character you like lol
Dropping it on their merch store would be more vulnerable to scalping since those would have literally been a limited run. These are made to at least match their pre-order numbers so you're guaranteed to get one at the MSRP. I'm not fond of LRG when it comes to games, but I see no issue with their merch and pricing. These aren't mass produced items.
I almost completely forgot about this, has anyone heard anything from Limited Run about when these will be shipping?
Fascinated to know where the screenshots on the poster came from - they're all pre-release press shots from when the game was announced at the Tokyo International Forum. Did Sega provide them? "Final Art Pending Licensor Approval" suggests no? Just because our set comes from various press discs I mirrored from archive.org - it wasn't easy to find.
Current forecast for this and the SXSG Collector's Edition is July - I think this is second half of the month and SXSG is the first.
I got an email a week ago saying my SA1 poster was shipping soon. Can't tell you when it'll actually ship, lol.
It got delayed a bit (email was sent a few weeks back, went right into junk folder). But yeah this... isn't uncommon for LRG, even the most simple of things takes months to produce and ship. It's part of the reason why they have such a poor reputation. See their newest announcement of sack racing simulation for more evidence...
It took virtua fighter 2 almost half a year to get to me from pre order but I did actually have it about a week after I got the “preparing to ship” email so if you got that then I’d expect it soon.
