    Sorry to interrupt, but here's a WIP of Sonica's new grass:

    Fantastic collaboration on the waterfall guys, it's really coming to life (really great job Exodus).
     
  2. Exodus, thank you for slightly increasing the contrast on the waterfall. Now I really think the colors are correct. I liked it better when it was mirrored though, and I still think the speed could use some work.

    About the grass, I want to emphasize that the green in the original shot is too bright (I quickly captured a screenshot from Gens for him) and his colors are more correct.

    Grass looks too zig-zaggy (perfect triangles)

    He needs to bend some so that they're sagging

    The grass on the bottom is too spiky as well, and perfectly straight down \/
    Add some longer grass blades on the bottom with blades curving and what not

    I think it might be faster just to trace the original grass and then to split the original grass into smaller chunks

    The TIPS of the grass blades are too thick
    Work it in there so that it's a much smoother curve

  6. I really like the grass better before the "improvements". The "zig-zaggy effect" isn't really a bad thing, it fits the mood of a Sonic game quite well IMO.

    I also agree and like the grass better before the 'improvements'. The newer versions look too organic with the little curves whereas the sharp lines in the previous version fit the geometry of the level nicely. However, I think I would prefer the more recent version if the changes that sanik suggested were incorporated

    Go ahead and put me down as agreeing on this issue -- Sonic 2 was not hyper-photorealistic.

    I second ICEknight's decision. To me, it is hi-def enough while still accurately representing and preserving the appearance of the original.

    I've asked him to revert back to the old style

    Although, I've cut the top from the old style and then pasted the bottom of the new style:

    Left=old style
    Right=old style + new bottom

    But Trunks version now that I look at it is very similar to Sonica's old version:

    I guess all he needs to do is pump up the shading on the old version?

    Without discouraging any Grass-Style contributors, I would like to specify that going on like this, we'll excessively prolong the time to get those tiles right, due one little detail:

    The lack of a Basic Shape-HD tile.
    The DoR method includes a perfect base to work with before adding new enrichments from Mockups & Concepts.

    So, let's focus in producing that base first. :D

  18. I'm still not sure if I like the bottom, but perhaps it would best be judged in conjunction with the blocks.

    Has anything been done to the waterfall to reduce the the glaring shock between the slow and fast segments yet? That's the only thing keeping it from being golden in my eyes.
