    Nice work Blue. The only thing that jumps out at me is the use of black in it. While I can understand why you were using it, it gives the impression when animated that there are 'gaps' in the water if you understand my meaning. Perhaps just another deep shade of blue instead?

    I wouldn't have posted this as Blue's waterfall is great but I had already made this last night and just didn't get around to posting it before I went offline. I followed the original waterfall's one tile across by four tiles down size and repeat while following the pattern of the original tiles closer than I did in my concept. It is animated here to eight frames.

    I'm not sure about this, I think I like Blue's better as it fits with th EHZ style better
     
  3. I like that effort Exodus. I think the wind effect looks really nice on it, although it could perhaps use a touch more blue. It looks like it would make an awesome HPZ waterfall if not EHZ.

    Regarding the darker colors in my waterfall, I basically took the original color range and exaggerated it slightly. I can remap something a bit lighter to it.

    I think I'll experiment a little more with an idea or two; perhaps I'll find something I like a little better. One thing I like about Exodus' version is that the transition between the shades looks smoother (although the contrast is also lower).

    I don't mind the lack of contrast in Exodus' version. It makes the water softer.

    Yeah, that's what I was getting at.

    Not to nit-pick your stuff Blue, but how does it look without the wind filter applied?

    Though I like Blue Streak's version, I think Exodus' waterfall stays much truer to the original animation, while at the same time holding a better flow of colors than the original waterfall did. It's a winner, in my opinon. :)

    Not very well. But, however, if we don't try to tile it with itself, but instead mirror it and tile, we get this:

    Fantastic, that's how.

    I believe this is the EHZ waterfall. Good as it is, and it probably won't need to be touched. We can use this as is, just as long as we can make it tile in this way in the engine.

    Yes, it's very good. I can't see problems with the tiling, anyway. If the engine can't do that tile mirroring, you can just use a bigger block (made by normal + mirror) as base tile :)
     
  11. Very nice, it looks good to me. We'll go with Exodus' version then, it works well with the mirror tiling and is certainly closer to the original than mine is. :)

    Now we need the parts near the top where the water isn't falling as fast.

    The top of the waterfall looked like the water was merged into a white line. It helped define it as the top of the waterfall and not just the end of the tiles. It would look awkward on a full level without that, I think. Otherwise, I think it looks great.
     
  17. Perhaps it's just me, but it feels like the water moves from slow to fast really suddenly. Perhaps it could be a little more gradual? In the original I think there were two different sets of tiles at the top to indicate the speed as gradually increasing.

    Blue beat me to the punch on this. Far too sudden a change I think.

    That Waterfall is getting better as we speak Exodus, how did you do that effect?

    Please start uploading your art on the database!
