Let's start this off :3 This holiday, I got to thinking about having some of the older enemies in here, such as the Buzz-Bomber and Crabmeat, restaurated. How would you create Crabmeat with the Sonic 3-freedom? Comments.
I remember discussing this with Slingerland a while back. We decided that one component of a good badnik was some form of redundancy. To that end, I designed a frog badnik that used springs to hop around. Crabmeat crawls side to side and fires pellets out of it's claws. Can this 'redundancy rule' be applied to him somehow? I already applied it to slingerland's buzzbomber in the form of helicopter blades.
Just in case it's allowed to re-post old submissions, I've just found the badniks I made for the old board. Goes up and down a tree, then flaps its wings and emits a buzzing noise, accompanied with a force field of sorts. Swims slowly and throws its spines when Sonic passes by. Swims back and forth until Sonic is near, then gives chase.
Here's all the badniks designs I drew up and some of the spriting created for them. Fiddle with them all you want. Toucan Badnik -Completed Circus Badnik Note the first pic is the actual design for the badnik and the bottom one is the tightrope concept. Mole Badnik 'Rock' Roller Badnik (A tiny bit of spriting I did for the eyes...) Geez that's alot! Also sorry about the sprite not being Graphics Gale format, they we're done before this rule came into place.
What about for the heavy jungle area if there were badniks that would chop down trees the way that the Lumberjack Miniboss in Sonic and Knuckles did? I can definitely see some time of woodpecker or insect badnick waiting in the background, taking a bite of of the tree to send the limbs crashing down on top of Sonic. It would also incorperate some speed traps, where an extra life or useful shield would be in a tunnel that the logs would block in if you were not quick enough (perhaps with a spring hidden inside so you don't get Carnival Night Barrel-style screwed over.). By the way, I don't have a good talent for drawing, so my suggestion is up for any modifications whatsoever.

What if this badnik has boxing gloves and spins around like an idiot. If Sonic touches him, he will be harmed. While the badnik is spinning his gloves will act like bumpers, so when Sonic tries to roll or Spindash through him, he will be bounced off. So the only way Sonic can defeat this guy is by jumping on his head.

Maybe something else for another I might draw up later!
I simply love the circus badniks. They open gameplay perspectives as well. However, we should focus on level 0 for now. Sun of a Beach Zone: - monkey - crab/lobster or a mammal (such as Sonic 3's rhino) - piranha - evil flower - land insect - flying > Toucan-badnik? PS: There's a total of 24 enemies in a standard Sonic game.
crab/lobster or a mammal? Like Sonic 3's rhino? I guess I am the only one that thought that rhino was really out of place then. Maybe something more specific to a semi-aquatic environment would be more suitable. Maybe a mini Vector-bot that "spindashes" at sonic on sight?
That one I know of, but it's not what I was thinking of. It would probably be more reminiscent of an actual jellyfish, as in, it would be transparent, and have longer tentacles. The jellyfish probably would rotate them at various speeds, and would electrify the water from time to time. Sonic would have to jump out of it to avoid getting shocked. This would probably be a mini-boss though.

Great Idea, plus it will give me some time to create some less complex badniks. All me and other people have been creating enemies with flashy and complex moves are just not going to be fun to fight as badniks. It will be nice to make a simple run-at-sonic enemy.
I've never seen a cuttlefish in a Sonic game. They have Octopus like camouflage, I think there's some potential there.
Has there been an anteater enemy? Maybe its tongue could stab at Sonic from long distances. I don't recall seeing an elephant enemy. Perhaps it could be near a lake and spit water or something.
