No, that's the sequel of Sonic 2006 2 whenever Sonic meets up with Shadow's timeline (again) in ShtH and messes it all up by killing him and taking his guns, thus causing another time paradox and even less happened than before. THIS is what Sonic 2006 2 is like.

    OT: I can't wait until Unleashed 2 - Werehog - boost - memorization + spinball physics.

Which will never happen wait Sonic Colors wat

    Internet.
God damn it, man, don't do that. You're going to jinx us all.

  3. Damn that sucker's uglier than the werehog.

They did. Shadow was gamecube's top selling game that Christmas.

I think Sonic games should be fun for all. They shouldn't have to divide their markets in half in order to make an a game that can please both.

    Shoe design isn't bad, though.

  5. This is why he was redesigned.
This current form holds much more mileage than the "classic" design, becasue he looks more "badass". The Classic design was a great design, but todays audience wouldn't really like it that much.

Still, Sonic is ridiculously popular. Almost too opoular given the quality of the games. I guess, kids just like supersonic blue hedgehogs.

    Anyways, back to the point.

I really don't think that there is going to be any kind of mutation for the 20th anniversary.
I'm just hoping they refine and improve any of the old engines that worked.

The Unleashed Engine (not the Hedgehog engine, that was a graphics engine) could do with improvements. More responsive jumping. Better jump physics. More platforming.

The SA2/Heroes engine. Both of these were great. They still needed improvement. Better Camera, the one in unleashed was almost perfect.

Tigher controls are needed all around though. Unleashed had an aweful turning circle. SA2, was too frantic, you could never keep Sonic going in a straight line for a sustained period of time, you always needed to make small corrections to maintain speed. Heroes was just slippery.
    Less automated Sections are needed.

Any more improvements that could be made?

1: There is a slight division about which Link looks best, but it's mostly divided between Toon Link (Wind Waker) and Twilight Princess Link (Older Link), but I think they don't care as much as we do because Zelda's art style has never been as involved with it's appeal as Sonic's.

    2: I want Tails Adventures 2, 'nuff said. :(

Why? Because I want a Sonic game that doesn't involve going from point A to point B. :argh: Mario had the Power Stars, Banjo-Kazooie has puzzle pieces, Crash Bandicoot had the gems and Spyro the Dragon has gems and some main collectibles that vary from games, as well as other, lesser known 3-D platformers of the time of Sonic Adventure so why can't Sonic have that? It's not like it would detract from the platforming at all since it's still possible to make a sandbox level system with loops and speed. :colbert:

What I think they're doing: Probably trying to make Sonic Adventure 3, which would be acceptable, as long as they bing back all the characters involved as fully playable and the Adventure Fields and Mission Mode from SADX.

I hardly ever post in this section of the forums, but I thought I'd drop by to express my opinions on this.

Fund it as one of those hilariously bad games that's just meant to be terrible. Seriously.

If they used his classic design in '06, fans would be saying "Why did they decide to use the older version of Sonic in such a shitty game?" :psyduck:

And I agree, I want to know what they were trying to do.

The reason why they changed Sonic is because classic Sonic didn't look that great in 3D, though I have seen 3D classic models that look fucking amazing drawn by fans.

Proof? I don't think it's a matter of he didn't look great in 3D. Consider the graphics for the time.

Well if he didn't look good in 3D then that doesn't explain the renders of him from S3D, Sonic R/Jam/S3D Saturn's Special stages, Xtreme, Sonic R prerenders or heck, even his supposed prerenders that were made of him in Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles' sprites. Those all looked fine to me. :psyduck:

Someone posted a video on the Sonic 4 thread about a test someone did of Sonic in 'Mario's World' using his classic model, and it looked just fine to me. I know there is a complaint about it being disproportionate, but that doesn't make any sense to me. It just looks chibi style, which is an actual style (where the head is commonly oversized. Otherwise known as 'super deformed') and I'm inclined to think that opinion is formed by people who just don't like that style. :colbert: The style itself is actually quite popular, so I see no reason why Sonic and co. (Especially Tails :v:) would be any less popular with the old style.

My speculation is that they changed it because the staff changed, and they didn't like it, so they 'revised' it.

    You mean this?

Yeah, it's super-deformed in the head. That model just has something wrong with it in general that I can't exactly point my finger at.

If I could take a wild guess, it's probably the quills, they look longer. Otherwise it has the appearance of not being polished.

I'm sure if Sonic Team were working on a model, they would polish it more.

It's the bulging eye balls and the way the model poses when standing. Plus, the legs and arms are much more stubbier than needed. I just noticed that's what the problems were.

Huge hands, limbs are too thin, and he's too short.

It's because the model is highly based off one of the models made during development of Xtreme:
Which was pretty proven around this topic as the base for the model.

  18. Ironically, they redesigned Sonic for the sake of proportionality. In classic form, Sonic looks too short and as mentioned earlier, his limbs are too thin and stubby. Classic looks better in 2D and the modern version looks WAY better in 3D. Perhaps Sonic Team should copy Zelda and have 2 styles for handhelds and Consoles.
The Classic stylised design for the prodominantly 2D handhelds, and the modern Unleashed-style design for the bigger budget 3D games.
That way everybody's happy and kids would be none the wiser.

EDIT: The above model has some proportion issues. The top quill is Much longer than the others. That having been said, if it wasn't for that issue it wouldn't be half bad. I just think his taller form works better in a 3D plane.

EDIT 2: I also think part of the reason they changed his design, was because he looked to young in classic form. He looked like a young kid. Not that that's a bad thing, but they were going for a 15 year old blue hedgehog. In the newer design, Sonic looks a lot older, and much more like a teenager.

Yeah that top quill is way too long. But I don't understand why the rest is so bad. What looks weird about it? Just make the hands a bit smaller...

I wouldn't exactly say that. And there are way better examples out there too to also stand against that remark.
