Lego Sonic the Hedgehog (New Sets Coming 2023)

It looks like the Master Emerald holds the others. Thats similar to how the movie treats them...I wonder if the mech could be something that appears in the Knuckles TV show.

Maybe part 3 but I don’t know if toy companies know this far in advance. The movie is in production so whatever new stuff appears must be done or at least decided on if it’s CGI.

Anyway the set needed to be something more than a Floating Island platform and Rouge in a glider. Looks like it might just be the emerald base too. Not an island set piece.

 

Paramount Sonic movie/TV merchandise would require a separate licensing deal from regular Sonic.

 

Don't get your hopes up for any sort of mech for Knuckles getting into anything else. It's just a thing LEGO tends to do.
For example I have this Spider-Man set with Doc Ock and Spider-Man himself.

Come to think of it, I could see us getting a LEGO Sonic movie at some point. SEGA and LEGO seem pretty all-in on their collaborations.

 

I got and built the Shadow set tonight. It's pretty cool but a small nitpick is that both sides of the bike don't match and the instructions try to get you to put the "hollow" parts of the wheels on the side with the logo and back engine parts the wrong way and that just felt wrong but luckily you can just set them in the other way.

Also the Rhinobot's compartment for the Clucky doesn't have anything to hide it at the very back but I assume that's to give access to it at all times.

Other than that, yeah, I'm glad I have this. Fun set.

Of note is a Super Sonic minifigure and Lego Maria

 

Did not notice Maria. Dying to get that Knuckles set.

 

I find it funny that the Master Emerald shrine seems to be severely lacking in, well the Master Emerald

 

They expect you to by the previous Knuckles/Rouge set to get the master emerald

 

Nah, you just gotta find the shards first. 5 additional dollars for the radar. Not a bad deal for ultimate power.

That's what a bust is though.

 

Busts usually include shoulders and the upper half of the torso too

 

I think it looks ok. It is made of Lego, after all.

 

Y’all want the rounded muzzle on Sonic characters until it happens outside of the Adventure games

A statue made out of bricks proper would’ve been better, but I guess that isn’t all that interesting as a set.

 

They actually did a few in the early 2000s, most famously this one of Darth Maul:



I can see why they don't do this nowadays, but it does a much better job at resembling the character it's depicting. All in all, Lego has always struggled at depicting non-robotic characters outside of minifigures.

 

The Shadow head looks shockingly bad compared to what we normally see from Lego. But these adult-aimed, display-style sets often cost well over $100. Perhaps Sega put a cap on how much Lego could charge for a Sonic set, and this was what they could come up with?
