"What you have here is very interesting, but let's take it down before it gets widespread attention. We don't want people with torches and pitchforks disappointed that we couldn't go through with the project because we couldn't find a deal we both liked and then get negative publicity for it.

More like "this project is great, but Apple has this policy where all iPhone Apps cannot be announced more than a few days before release, so take that shit down so we don't invalidate the whole shebang".

I was just thinking of buying an iPod Touch with my birthday money, but after seeing this glorious idea, it will be a sure buy on my end. I want this. Badly. It would be a travesty if SEGA didn't greenlight this. Good luck, Taxman.

  5. Just tossing two cents into the pot here, but:

Apple has a serious issue with people advertising anything before being released on the iTunes store.

Which, well, might be good that we're not hearing anything.

Perhaps they have beef with it, I don't know, but they can't tell Sega or Taxman not to advertise. They have no legal grounding there.

    EDIT: Read my next post

    First off.
See, I'm not the only one who's heard this.

    Secondly, from Joystiq:
I'm not pulling this out of my ass - this is an actual policy Apple has. It's bullshit, yes, but it is real.

Well, I did some research on this after you wrote that, and it looks like that IS in fact Apple's policy. It's hard to believe though! I understand it as an enforceable agreement to protect Apple software, but if they're going after others who talk about third party software which Apple has nothing to do with, then that is really not cool at all in my opinion. It seems they can get away with this though since the agreement is tied into the SDK used to develop the applications. That is an unfortunate consequence of using it, and in my opinion is rather stupid. I think it does Apple more harm than good at the end of the day.

Anyway, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I was incorrect in my previous post.

EDIT: Oh cool, I just passed 2000 posts. I'm special!

This is amazing, Taxman. Like all the others I hope this will go through and see a release. Considering what this engine can do, have you thought about doing something like, oh I dunno, this?

Don't you just love quick, shoddy mock-ups? :P

While some may think it would ruin the "aura" of Sonic CD (and would be canonically incorrect since there are no Chaos Emeralds), I think this would be a nice little bonus, maybe after completing the game on the Good Ending or something.

Fuck, I thought there was an update.

  11. I saw a video of this being played on youtube awhile ago and I was quite impressed! Everything seems intact and by the looks of it, it plays wonderfully. :)
As for the whole soundtrack debate, I'm in favor of both soundtracks though I'm a bit more towards the American one but the Japanese one is fine with me.

Hey, all you guys who are pulling random quotes out of your ass regarding this - I am a full-time iPhone developer and I can tell you 100% with utmost certainty that anyone who says apple will deny apps because they've been mentioned is just completely wrong. Sorry guys but that's complete bullshit. If anyone would like to challenge it, I'll gladly post the iPhone SDK agreement here so you can see it says nothing of the sort.
