What everyone else said. Hopefully, I'll be on the IRC. I'd probably be sleeping or something. I dunno. Either way, I'll be sure to check it out.
It's because I took this screenshot when I had no rings, and the RINGS was flashing.
Has anyone noticed how different that Lava Reef act 2 shot is? Flowing lava, mixed palette, there is no area like that at the beginning of the level at all. This may be interesting to see. Also does the original level order exist? I'd love to see a Mushroom Hill transition to Sandopolis.
I doubt that because Tails appear to has his new palette as well. Looks like the Sonic 3 palette to me.

@ Dark sonic: If you look at the screenshot comparison between DRX's shot and the Normal cooled down Lava reef 2, then You should notice a difference there. Or, it simply is me.
Good job drx. Good job. And hey, we're still working on tracking down an S1 Beta... EDIT: lol conclusions
After 17 years, the chance of bitrot is really high. We've been lucky with these ones because they've been backed up on CDs.
Well we know where one is, just a matter of convincing the owner who unfortunately doesn't understand that the cart will rot -_-
Interesting point. Excellent eye Oerg866, there are pallete differences: The shades of grey are s3 alike, but the skin colours are darker like the previous games.
That's a VERY subtle difference - I'd say it's more likely to be because of how different Genesis emulators display colors in slightly different ways.
I think both of those shots have been taken with Kega, given the screen size of 320x240 with black canvas. Gens trims them down to 320x224.
Yeah, those palettes look exactly the same to me. Is now really the time to be clutching at straws already? It's like waiting a week is beyond the scope of our level of patience. :P
