Is the visual style of 2D/Classic Sonic capable of transitioning to 3D?

Yeah I'm very bad explaining myself--autism and ADHD also means my posts tend to just be absurdly overlong word vomit that meanders around constantly like this very sentence

I will say though, one thing I want to mention is that I LOVE the basic style and art direction the Riders games ("Free Riders"? What's that?) went for. Everything is strikingly vibrant, the futuristic architecture has that surreal vibe the Classics had, and honestly, I kinda wish modern Sonic leaned into that more. Places like Aquatic Capitol looked SO COOL to me as a kid, and that kind of thing given the detail and quality of, say, Unleashed's levels...drools.
