I'd donate a little towards the sonic 1 beta being dumped. :x

  2. Who wouldn't?

Well, I can't. I'm broke. But I certainly would if I had the money. I have an uncontrollable desire for Sonic prototypes.

If this pans out, here's hoping for that rolling checkered ball in GHZ.

Before this blows out of proportion let me state that this would be a Sonic 1 SMS proto, not Megadrive.

In this case you should post about it on smspower as well, I'm sure Bock would definitely contribute for it, and not only him.

Sonic 1 SMS is awesome, just as awesome as the MD version :P

Nothing has ever come close to the amazing awesome of sky base zone.

Assuming we're talking about an early proto with different things and not something that looks like the final game with just less stuff.

Damn straight. I got Sonic 1 on the Genesis for christmas in 92, and that next september, I got a game gear with Sonic 1 and Mickey Mouse: Castle of Illusion. I played the FUCK out of Sonic 1 Game Gear, like every day. At that point I'd conquered Sonic 1 Genesis and I was dying for Sonic 2, so it was a great Sonic fix for in between.

It's a fantastic game, and had it released on the SMS early in it's life, it would have done wonders for the system's perception and library. It's one of the best 8-bit platformers, period.

Completely worthy of the Sonic the Hedgehog title, and a worthy last US title for the Sega Master System.

This is true. A little off topic, but how the hell can I get a complete, US version of this? I have never seen it listed on Ebay.

    Well, there's this:

    <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/SEGA-MASTER-SYSTEM-GAME-SONIC-HEDGEHOG-POPULAR-/120562842628?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_PC_Video_Games_Games&hash=item1c121afc04" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.com/SEGA-MASTER-SYSTEM-GAM...=item1c121afc04</a>

But its cartridge doesn't have a sticker on it, and it only comes with the cartridge.

Sonic 1 MD was the first Sonic game I played but not the one I owned first, that was the SMS version :D an older cousin had a megadrive and back then seeing Sonic run around in bright zones at 50fps (pal) was eye melting for a child like myself, my aunt bought me a SMS later that year and the following christmas my parents bought me the MD1 with Sonic 1 bundle, was so awesome.
