Welp, I guess that cements it, save for video editing that may have taken some of the more lively parts of the meeting, it seemed to go pretty well. Thank goodness. Nice little zinger by the nerd at the end.

Everything Sammybeany said at the meeting is in this video. I didn't cut "lively" stuff to make it look entirely tame. It was, front to back, a chill meeting. The cuts that were made involved lots of people repeating/echoing each other and lots of "uuuuuuuhhhs," "uuuuuuuums," stammering and people not being able to hear each other across the room. Also, for some reason at the beginning of the meeting, I turned the camera off like a dum-dum when I wanted to speak. So, I added those abridged explanations.

    Real talk.

That was a good video. It's good to see that the issues that have been brought up are being taking very seriously. It would be good if they have plans to share some of their development progress so the next release is proper fine tuned. At the end of the day. We may moan alot about key issues. But at least we are trying to help out to get a better product.

It would be an idea for Sega of America to grab a couple of hardcore classic players to do physics tests for them so they do get it right. I feel that would be a good move if they really want to push the envelope with this next release.

That community event seems like the coolest thing ever... I really wish I could have gone. It's amazing how cool under pressure ken and aaron are, and it seems like they serve their company well.

I try not to be cynical, but I can't help but agree with Ritz here. When this happens with members of the actual development staff, I'll begin to think that the issues are being taken seriously.

On my butt in front of the computer. Where else?
I'm working on working up the willpower to work on learning how to make my own Sonic fangames. Not quite there yet.
Well, it's kind of hard to have heart-to-hearts with developers that may not even speak the same language and live on the other side of a really big body of water, but yet, the PR team caring is nice, but it's no guarantee things will be properly addressed. Even at its best, you have to factor that all of this has to go from the PR team to whoever they tell it to, to whoever tells the development team, and then the development team has to address it, provided nothing important got lost in translation along the way.

Still, that looked like a nice little shindig. Also, Ken B. is cool peoples when he's not under press-pressure.

  10. I actually really liked this video.

It showed that the event was actually somewhat productive in getting the feedback of Sonic 4 to be heard.

It showed that everyone had a lot of fun and enjoyed themselves.

    ...I kinda wish I went...

Fair enough. But lets not go bashing on something that is not even in development yet. They know the physics are the top priority. We are just gonna have to wait till something surfaces. Until then. This is a positive for episode 2.

    Life.
I laughed out loud while watching this. Like when watching BrainScratch. That makes me smile. Clearly it was a fun little shindig. :)

Hold it at a 45 degree angle, and you win!

That was great. Shows a really human side to Sega AND the fans. Makes me feel all toasty inside.

This is the Sonic 4 Community Event as you truly imagined it.

So uh... and I'm not criticizing here, but why is it called 'Live from SEGA of America' if this video was edited and then posted on the Internet several days later?

It was interesting to watch. I'm still wondering if it'll do any good of course because like others are saying, these are PR guys. It'd be nice if they could do something productive like sort out some people from the community who are known to be good with this stuff so that they can go into specific examples and offer feedback rather than simply pointing out generics like that the music has poor instrumentation or that the levels lack unique and consistently designed flows. Obviously you went there a little further with your video cut-aways.

    Oh, I went into specifics.

These guys give a damn. I was talking to Ken about it long before and long after the meeting. These comments will go somewhere, because they will just lose interest from everybody if episode 2 comes out and it's equally as lackluster.

I completely agree with SammyBean's comment about the cliches in Sonic stages and how there's a lack of character to the stages in StH4. I guess you could argue Sonic has always had a tradition of paying homage to earlier stages and doing variations on them with different titles. In truth, we've seen so much of this now that it's hurting the newer releases. There's no new ideas or innovation anymore. I really hope they take that into consideration.

I really enjoy all the examples in the video too!
