I love the cover to Sonic Universe #23.

Man if thats all he see's let that be all he see's, he's far better off with life not to be exposed to the horrors of the internet we have seen

Although all I will say, purely and I mean *PURELY* from an artistic standpoint, that rain is far too viscous, for the sake of innocence, it looks like someone has gotten a car jetwash full of wallpaper paste and just sprayed away.

 

I didn't even think of that when I posted that cover here.

 

Hence I reiterate:

 

That it's white doesn't help, but mostly it's the "goopy" look it has. I realize it's just supposed to look like it's splattered on his face, but I've been out in heavy rain before. Water doesn't look like that, never mind the color.

The edit there is more like it, although water in Sonic's eye is still weird—if he had water in his eye, why would his eye be wide open, rather than reflexively blinking to clear his vision?

 

No, it still looks like jizz.

That raises a whole new set of questions. Questions like why would Sonic do this? And how many people are involved (as I said before, that looks like a lot more than a single person produces)? Did Archie really think this cover was a good idea?

Hey! That's not the only possible explanation. Given the quantities of fluid involved, it is, in fact, much more plausible that a glue factory simply exploded.

1) It's self-depreciative humor; by giving cream "attitude" in the picture, they're making fun of ShTH.
2) It's unexpected. You see the black arms motorcycle and you expect shadow, and instead, you look up and see a six year old child-like rabbit with ridiculously huge shades on riding it.
3) Shadow's expression accurately portays the first thing everyone thinks when they see it. By mirroring the reader's reaction, it connects with the reader.
