How are you spending Sonic's 21st Birthday?

I got up late, about 10.30am. After getting myself ready and chilling out watching my Dragon ball Z Season 3 Box set, I went and got my hair cut. I then came back and played some Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & K, 3D Blast, CD and Sonic Heroes. Didn't beat any of them as I've done it a thousand times, but thought I'd mess about on my favourite levels and listen to some of the music in the sound test on my new TV hooked up with my surround sound which I spent half an hour setting to perfect levels. The old MegaDrive games sound amazing.

 

I actually went to a barbecue today. The hosts were the parents of my friend who loves Sonic just as much as I do, so we played some Colors and looked up a few Blonic videos. God, I love those videos and the YTPoops they've spawned.
Oh, and I've been up since 9:00 this morning waiting for a Sonic Adventure 2 announcement. I'm still waiting... I just think it's a bit strange that Sega didn't say anything at all today. Not about Sonic, not about anything.

I completed "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" four times (Sonic & Tails, Sonic alone, Tails alone, Knuckles) , each time with all emeralds, over three evenings.

And then I learned it was Sonic's birthday. True story.

 

I got drunk.
It had nothing to do with Sonic.

 

Why are we even celebrating this? It just seems a bit soon.

 

...June 23rd, 2012 is 21 years after the release of Sonic 1. It's not too soon: It was right on time and now you ask about this after it's passed.

 

I mean I suppose it's too soon for his 22nd birthday, but for his 21st... you're late XD

 

I honestly didn't do much for the 'ole Blue Blur's 21st. Ah well, there's always next year of course.

 

What I mean was why were we having a birthday the year after that big celebration of Sonic's 20th? Was it because he was now old enough to drink? :v:

 

If Sonic drank and ran, you know how that'd turn out.

Otherwise, his birthday is only celebrated on a five-year cycle like just about everything else. So his 25th would be the next one... Duhh.

 

It's still his birthday. That's like saying "why should I go to your party when you're only 21." Yes, it's not as big as his 20th, that means we should just completely ignore it?

 

As overrated as I consider the game to be, I played Sonic Generations on that day.

 

Fictional characters get very upset when you don't celebrate their birthdays

 

That day I hooked up my model 1 Genesis, then tested it out, adjusted the surround sound, and ended up playing...
Aladdin.

...yeah.

 

I played Super Mario World.

I am a monster.

 

It's just that I'm used to fictional characters' birthdays not being celebrated every year. Usually it's only on milestone years like the 10th, 20th, 25th, 50th, 75th, and so on and so fourth.

 

Well of course his 21st doesn't really matter. It's just more of a "hey what a coincidence" sort of deal. Only the most hardcore of fans will actually give a rats ass about the day (beyond the 5 year mile stones and such), and even then it's hardly worth running home about. I played some Sonic games, I didn't throw a parade for Sonic in his honor. It's just fun.

 

I PLAYED SONIC 06! Not really. I just went straight up Sonic 1 and beat it in one sitting.
