I really want the Nick Arcade version of Sonic 2. Have you looked at the Hill Top demo? Sonic starts by looking up... and then jumping forward and then backwards. Something was there, not just another 128x128 tile. Even though Sonic jumping around he still catches the lift without problem, so... but then he gets into trouble again. How many builds are our beta after the NA Sonic 2? If we ever could get ahold of the NA Sonic 2, we could start compare... *dreams*
It would be toast by now. The cartridge would most likely be made of inferior material that have all but deteriorated by now. Our only hope would be the ROM chip. -Samantha
Too bad we just can't read the minds of the damn (not sure if swearing is allowed) people who made the games, and see what info lies deep down in their minds....
Yes, but how many are alphas like "Sonic 2 Beta" is? They don't use expensive boards and materials for unfinished products. I know. -Samantha
And you can find some prototypes being sold at eBay sometimes, and they're not degraded... The only problem would be the bit-rot that may happen under certain circumstances inside the flash ROM or whatever it's called, not in the cartdrige/board.
You're probably right = I just know someone who's game degraded after awhile and it was a Megadrive game. (One of the Phantasy Stars if I recall) -Samantha
Thank gosh, because in a century, there won't be a working PONG cartridge for the Atarii... -Samantha
Or if the game player got pissed off that he couldn't beat level 4 and took out the cartridge and chucked at the nearest wall... This happened with my Sonic 3 cartidge. ;D
..If you check the Sonic Cult, goto the Sonic 2 Final section, then the Prototype screenshots section. Scroll down to the picture of Hill Top with the green ball see-saws.. Is it me, or could that maybe have been the beginning part where he does all that jumping, in an earlier build? o.o; Possibility, no? EDIT: Made that other stuff into a new topic.
