    Exactly. Very mature response.

To all the people who can't understand the perfectionism around here. Get lost. It's pretty clear that nothing will be accepted until it's up to standard. A lot of us don't want tacky rubbish contaminating our game. The tree is a ridiculous case sure (and it's far from tacky, or rubbish now). But what can we do about it if it's not quite there yet (say the staff)? Stop discussion for awhile? Sure. But what help is that when discussion then also stops on everything else.

Actually, just want to point out - the tree has been in concept stage since LONG before March 23rd ;). That was just the first one in this thread.

You also said that the first Nebula was "perfect". So I have trouble believing you actually understand this project in the first place.

    <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I knew what you meant. I knew you were speaking in general. I didn't take it as an baseless attack or anything so you really don't need to defend yourself.
But what I said still stands, which was also a statement in general for all objects in their respective levels. There is no real need to repeat designs to make them 'fit' or consistency. Only consistency needed is that it fits the art style provided. There is a color scheme that already ties everything together.

That isn't to say you can't re-imagine a design on it. But having multiple unique sprites in a level with the same type of bevel pattern just sounds boring. What I'm trying to say is I don't feel the bevel is part of a theme or overtone of the entire level art. I don't even know what came of those designs as far as staff preference either.

I feel both our posts were really irrelevant. Because I don't think all this clarification was really necessary. But I guess I'm just bored.

Edit: Your last bit to Jebusman was really uncalled for. I'm no mod though.

I'm no mod though.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->Zones always need consistency. Perhaps you don't need to go tooooo far with it, but it's something to consider. Anyway, forget the bevel, I just thought it was a good example.

I only mean in a subtle way :). Little details here and there that help link everything up. I suppose we should forget about that though. It's just one more thing to slow us down :S.

Anyway, sorry but I'm in a defensive mood. I'm sick of seeing people with 1-10 posts (or that have had nothing to do with the project) popping up and "laughing". As if we don't already know it's gone on for months. As if we don't already know we should have been done with it long ago. There are people here that have put a lot of work, and a lot of thought into this project. But then you just get people who like to come along and mock it all. Pathetic.

PM the staff or something. Don't laugh at the rest of us. We've been asking for direction for god knows how long also. It's been much better lately. So lets just get on with it.

Maybe it's just me, but arguing over a tree for five months seems like a waste of valuable development time...

Well it's happened. So lets move on. The staff have been more active lately, and as long as that continues, it need not happen to such an extent again.

Edit: I also don't want to derail the thread. So please lets just forget about it..... >_>.

Is it just me or does it look like he's barely on top of it? Does it make sense to have such a huge curve on the ends?

It looks like it should have more of a spoon's curve effect on each side, but without it curling back towards the center. Subtle, but not an obvious circle.

    If that makes sense.

Now that I agree with. I can't quite imagine him sitting right in there as it is currently, and then when he gets flung up you'd think he'd get hooked off to the side somewhere... I think the sharp angle of the lip part could be toned down a bit.

Last I'll say of the Nebula - I just found it odd we had a good looking one with shading and everything, and then you guys were pushing the South Park looking one. I still don't understand the reasoning there.

Anyway, as for the see-saw, a curved edge is a good idea.

Sonic 2 HD, various 3D work
Namo, keep the talk of the Nebula out of this thread please.

Jebusman, if you have a problem with how the project is going, take it up with me in PM, not here. I've made it abundantly clear that the working threads aren't soap boxes for people to complain in.

As for development being slow and not getting anything done over the past five months, plenty has been done. The staff isn't just sitting back and watching things go by here without doing massive amounts of work on our end. A lot of what we're doing isn't visual work anyway. I think people need to be reminded sometimes just how much is necessary beyond the art assets in a game -- LOst has been having us test the engine on a regular basis, we've been in deep discussion with Synergy around improving the Special Stage, we've brought onboard another composer who is doing amazing work with arranged zone themes, and we've overhauled the way character sprites are created so that Tails' frames can each be created in a matter of hours instead of days. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. As I've said countless times by now:

S2HD will be completed. We're not giving out a timeframe for that because there's no need for it right now. Once we have all the foundation work completed, the engine is running with all the necessary components working as close to flawlessly as possible, and the interfaces have been solidified, we'll be able to. But that's a ways away currently. I'll keep you all apprised.

Just to add to the above, the impact of your little time gap isn't as powerful when you take into account that several other things were finished within that five months, both publicly and privately. Take head, remove from ass, etc.

I mean, really—not like I'm one to defend the overall composition of this project, but fucks sake, dude.

Zemulii cleared a few things up for me about the N*bula, so I'm all good on that. No worries here.

I'm also aware that some things are going on behind the scenes. I still remember the announcement where you guys revealed a silhouette of an extra smooth Sonic running sprite - ever since then, in the back of my mind, I've been pretty much sure that "Yeah, they're doing something, something big, and they're just not telling us" sorta thing. But bringing up things we don't know would look more stupid than bring up things we do, right? Right. Although we could change our tones a bit.

Exactly. Like... as much as I hate bringing up physics in a game about a fast running hedgehog, the seesaw needs to be open enough that the animation of the red dude (who's name escapes me right now) going up doesn't make it look like he's clipping through this little curve on the top.

Now I'm not exactly proskill with any image editing programs of any kind, so this is the best I can represent it as:

And Canned it's not like I was saying that nothing else BUT the tree happened in 5 months, but the fact that they actually spent 5 months on something that honestly was done in 1, which took away from being able to completely focus on the other tasks at hand. Every time someone brought something up like the vines, the seesaw and whatnot, it would get maybe 2 or 3 pages of solid discussion, before someone decided "Hey, I think the tree needs to be one slight shade of green lighter", and it's back to another month of bickering about the tree.

And seriously. Rotating Octagonal Prisms. You cannot tell me that, even if it was an honest suggestion (which it was), that it was REALLY required at that point in the discussion.

Edit: Actually the more I stare at the angled seesaw the more I think it's not nearly as overcurved as I thought, just the weird perspective it's at. I still think it needs a slight reduction in.... curvyness.

You claim to have been viewing the thread, and obviously have taken the time to document the progress of the tree, yet you still find it necissary to complain about something we are all painfully aware of, and use it to mock us. Then you make an actual useful post about how you think something should be, and then at the end change your mind... Gee whiz kiddo, me thinks zee pot it culling zee kettle black.

Oh I'll gladly take any insults you want to throw at me. I'm just making sure we're all clear on the fact that we are literally being retarded perfectionists.

And yes I realized the irony of me following the exact same process as the tree. At least I didn't point out an alternative seesaw.

And I didn't change my mind. I'm just saying it should be a "subtle" change, not a "LOL NO MORE CURVES AT ALL" change.

Now that I agree with. I can't quite imagine him sitting right in there as it is currently, and then when he gets flung up you'd think he'd get hooked off to the side somewhere... I think the sharp angle of the lip part could be toned down a bit.
    <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Okay, so I think what you are saying should be done is make the lips of the see saw vertical when in the "up" position, as they are in the original sprite, and not pointing inwards as in the revisions (except I think T.O.'s).

Well if you want it how it is in the sprite when angled it is triangles and in that case there is test-object version that does that just that. So here is all of his version so everyone can pack out there favorite, print it out and put it on their refrigerator.

All test-objects see-saws taken from the archive:

And here's the ones I made:

So figure out what you want and get back to me.

I want to see what your shading and art style would look like with the triangle points as in T.O.'s and the sprite. It only makes physical sense for the points to be triangular since the Ghora is launched straight up. T.O.'s look a bit too dirty and realistic compared to yours, and would like to see you at least make your see saws physically able to launch the ghora vertically instead of hooking it off to the side. Other than that, yours has a very bright future.

MDM, I gave you a request. Let's see what that looks like and we'll proceed from there.

Honestly though, once we have the triangle ended seesaw in MDMs design, you think it should be good enough to move on to the next task?
