Help with Chao-sax Pal

    I changed the palette to EHZ to have more browns and reds and yellows to match the theme for Turkey Hill Zone, but I tried loading the ROM in Gens and it just stays in idle mode. What`s going on? :)

    Because that's your problem, set it to genesis files and open your ROM again.

    Ok, it opens now, but it just is a red screen, there`s no sound (like the "SEGA" sound) and no SEGA logo present. What did I do wrong now?

    Heh, that's funny. I've had my Gens program loader set to All Files, and all I did was open the file, then opened up a different file. Then I went to Rom History and clicked from there. *jots information down*

    EDIT: Your checksum is incorrect! Open ESE, open the Rom, load the rom, go to Tools, and do checksum check.

    Nevermind that. Just read post above for fixing your red screen problem.

    :angry: Damn. Beat me to it Trigahd! But you are correct. You need to fix the check-sum. :)

    Yay, it works, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! But why did it do that, and do I need to do the Checksum thing every time I change a palette?

    When you edit a level, you change something from what the original has stored, so yes you need to use Checksum whenever you change something in the game, unless you use Soned, then you don't need cause SonEd does it for you anyway.

    You don't. It only happens when you mak a major change. With the pallete change? Not sure. It ussually happens when you do a change such as: level editing, title card change, level select change.
    Edit-Damn. Beat to it again.

    No, Mecha Mazgoth, I'm using ESE to create a hack right now, any small change results you in needing the checksum. I would know since I keep using it for palette changes and other stuff

    Hmmm, I see. Well, after I change to palettes to fit the Sonic Holidays theme, I`ll try and tackle changing the Title Cards to read the proper zone names (ex: Emerald Hill Zone?Turkey Hill Zone).

    Here`s a screenshot, tell me if it looks good and fits the Thanksgiving theme:
