I've disabled the game now. Funny stuff, but too much of a nuisance to deal with when you're just browsing the form. And since it's not really a game either, like the Pumpkin Hill one, there's no incentive to to keep it up. But that's just me being a spoil sport. I love these little gimmicks really.
This is incredibly annoying, seeing as I don't know shit about post-MD Sonic games and have no idea how to disable this. Even trying to look for more tips or for a straight answer that someone might have been kind enough to post is proving to be impossible with this crap. And I refuse to waste my time debugging the javascript files looking for ways to circumvent this. See you when this nonsense ends.
It is really clever, don't get me wrong, although if it were me I don't think I'd be forcing it on people, particularly when it's not "easy" to disable. This isn't April Fools, and you're always going to run into situations where it bricks some people's setups. As I've said before though, there are, uh... genuine bugs and problems across Sonic Retro that could really use these leet coding skillz. Like for example, the Sonic Retro wiki is forcing CAPTCHA tests on every edit (or every preview of an edit), and should the test not load properly, your data is wiped. I've no idea how long that's been going on for - I know if I'd logged this in the more formal bug logging way it could have sat there for weeks until an extremely busy Scarred Sun was slightly less extremely busy one day. This isn't to do the whole "rain on your parade I'm no fun" thing, but idk, there's a whole batch of cool things we could have had in wiki land that might have taken about the same length of time to code.
I must say, though I did idly speculate in staff chat before this went live as to how long it'd be before the whining about a single day's worth of forum fun started, I was expecting it to be somewhat more than a single hour before it started...
Welcome to the meritocracy: you don't deserve a usable forum unless you have the knowledge to guess the keyword.
Figured it out, jeez that took a minute. I wouldn't mind Cinossu if I had a computer that could keep up with your surprises, but unfortunately I have a POS and Retro's antics cause it to seize up bad.
You guys don't know a real Halloween scare until you try to leave three tabs of this beast running at once. :v: I was wondering how you did that. It's a neat trick. Maybe next year you could give a code that makes baby noises play instead of whatever other song is playing, and the real code is buried in a hint. That would sure cheese people off! A "Go To Mobile Site" button somewhere at the bottom of the forum's page probably wouldn't hurt, though.
Well, this one is particularly annoying. Emerald hunting was fun, didn't really interfere with general forum browsing, and could be turned off at the click of a button. The random disco stuff usually only affects the page (or the topic, in some cases). It goes away when you visit a different topic. This one affects the site globally, and continually interrupts the forum experience by entirely flipping the page (and worse, not moving the scrollbar back to the post you were looking at (and even worse, not jumping to a new post when you click the new post indicator)), while not having an obvious way to stop it from happening (requires finding the topic, which is already hard enough with the page flipping every few seconds, and then randomly guessing the phrase (luckily it's one of the famous ones), or alternatively editing the URL). I think there's some justification to the complaints this time.
I wish it worked on my computer instead of being stuck on the loading screen. Might be my net though since its been stormy all day?
I've come up with an extremely simple solution for anyone who's having trouble with this or just hates it for whatever reason: take a day off from the forum. It's literally just for one day. Or, if you really don't want to do that, your other options are to either figure out the code to disable the shenanigans, or to view the forum on a mobile device. It's not as though there's no way around this, or that this is going to be a permanent thing...
Finally got the password! It was..easy to find...at a computer, that is. Awesome like always, Cinossu!
>All the whining Shouldn't some of you be out be out trick or treating or at a halloween party? Settle down or come fight me.
