I`ve noticed that the green stuff in background looks a bit like the grass from Emerald Hill. Weird huh?

Yeah. That's not the only bit of weirdness in the level. I once played a savestate that had a few scraps of the level left, where it had floors that were cramped, and a swinging platform. The whole level wasn't finished in the save, though...

I heard the level`s pallete still exist in the final. Is the final`s pallete in anyway different then the beta`s pallete?

  4. Mystical Ninja where did you download that gamesave at also I'm having trouble with the debug mode code whenever I put it in I select a level and hold A and when the level starts I'm not in debug mode also how do I use a gamesave?

    1. I think I might've downloaded that Savestate from Sonic CulT when it originally had hacked Savestates up (either that or the SSRG SaveState Archive).

    2. The Debug Code is C C C C Up Down Down Down Down Up ( For the C button, you press whatever button on your keyboard that's configured as the C Button). Then choose your level, hold A and press start.

    3. To load a Savestate, you open Gens and choose your ROM you wish to play. Then, you go to file, and "Lowd Savestate". The savestates must be taken out of the Zip before you try to load them.

How could you have played a savestate that had "scraps" of Genocide City in it? Sonic Team never put any time into the zone! (Unless it was a fan-made save state.)

If you notice, the background used in the existing GCZ is made up of only a single tile, the tile at offset 0000 in the VRAM. If you use Genecyst or Gens (which can view the VRAM), you'll see the ARZ tiles loaded.

It's widely believed that GCZ was intended to be CPZ's HTZ - a totally different layout with slightly different tiles and (possibly) a different palette. I believe Simon's site covers this somewhere.

And anywayz I heard that Genocide City Zone was supposed to of been like Sonic 3's Launch Base Zone. So basically a launch site for the Death Egg

I heard that if you replace Emerald Hill`s Pallette with Genocide City`s in the Final you`re transported to a different level. Floors from EHZ are visible but for some reason you fall right through them and the background is the same as GCZ from the beta except without that green shit. The SCZ music plays and you can only stand on loops. There are also no badniks or rings. I recall reading this at Area 51 when it was still around.

    Is this true?

Yes, this is true. Enter the Game Genie Code: ACLA-AWD8, then do the level select code, and select "Sound Test" in the level select screen. But you need debug, so you don't fall through the floors and die. =P

Yes, it was a "hacked" savestate I played with messed up graphics of the Genocide City Zone.

  14. Do you enter the Game Genie code in the ROM version or the Genisis version?

It applies for both of them.

  16. I entered it into the ROM now what do I do?

I've never quite figured out how to get debug to work.

    (How embarassing!)
