Just playing the end of level spinning sign SFX would suffice.
Shit, the thing's coming out around September here. About $30AUD more than the SNES Mini costs though.
AAAANNNDD... It's crap.
Wow, it sucks, what a suprise.
Now let's wait a year and see with what Genesis console they will come up next.
Other review videos, not quite as negative as CNETs. Supposedly the sound is indeed fixed this go around.
It shows they also added Game Gear games to this one to pad out the list!
One thing though, 3 button genesis controllers don't seem to work with this one.
Going to ask something on a bit of the wild side: Has anyone figured out if these can be flashed with better emulators?
Most of us know the NES Classic Mini ended up being hacked pretty thoroughly, but does such a flaw/option exist for the AtGames Mega Drive units?
EDIT: Jeeze, I have the memory of a goldfish. I just realized I asked this exact same thing at the top of the thread.
If anything, flashing in new firmware might help fix the alleged 3 button controller problem.
I still want to see someone compare all of these AtGames systems to see if they're actually improving over time. "The sound is wrong" is a phrase that can describe at least 15 years worth of their products.
But it's not exactly poor business sense - £79.99 is an exorbitant amount for something like this, and because people will always buy things with "SEGA" on the box, you'll be breaking even pretty quickly I'd say.
Apparently reviewers were sent the wrong units?
That just raises further questions. How the hell do you screw up a review unit?
Call me a cynic, but until I see otherwise, this is an attempt at damage control.
Gameplay latency experience is exactly what a player doesn't want from a Sega Mega Drive. What a waste this thing is. I wonder how the hell someone provides such a shit like this. At least the sound seems accurate in comparison to the Tectoy's release. Still crap and utterly loud, but the next possible from the PC emulators as it seems.
I don't get why they keep padding out the library with shitty mobile knock-off games. They're already putting Master System and Game Gear games on there, why not just keep adding more until they hit 85? There were like 12 Sonic games alone for those systems. Or what about the Streets of Rage trilogy?
I'd actually consider buying one of these if they managed to get 32x emulation working for it and added some of those games, seeing as they've never been re-released outside of GameTap (which has been defunct for eight years). The NES Classic shows how much of a demand there is for something like this done well, but it seems Sega's content to let their old consoles become fodder for the discount shelves at Target.
This makes the positive reviews look even dumber now.
If y'all don't mind mono audio, there's a fantastic little Chinese GOAC that does HDMI, and seems to have much higher compatibility than the AtGames clone.
Even supports Master System games.
Gotta supply your own cart though. :v:
I was just about to suggest this myself - I came across this thing the other day, and then this morning discovered there's a Mega Drive 2 flavour as well.
Though I'm firmly in the camp that says composite is the way to go, and for that there are many better alternatives (not least a real system).
If there's one thing I've realised after making a Youtube video about Sega Forever's failures, there's a whole lot of overly-vocal younger Sega fans that'll accept any old rubbish.
Some of them might fear that they'll stop receiving free games, otherwise.
lol wow !
Then we have the Rise of the Robots reviews. Whole new level of dumbness.
Full game list revealed
Still no Sonic 3 lmao
