We will have no Nintendo-isms here sir. You clearly mean the MEGA Guide.

Menus. Ah yes. I can't imagine the menus possibly being different at all from the original. Not in the slightest. Surely there haven't been changes already made to address this. That would just be... unoriginal of us.

You've made my face melt with your acid sarcasm. Thanks.

  7. *Psst* Hey do you guys think SEGA has a spy in here just to keep on eye on our ideas, progress, discussion? I mean they are making a HD 2D Sonic game for the first time in over a decade (Project NeedleMouse), and it is aimed at people like ourselves. They have also routinely shown that they don't understand the desires of our demographic (those of us whom have a conservative view of the Sonic series) . I'm pretty sure we had the idea first and have been working on it longer too. If I was managing a Sonic division of SEGA with this sort of project you can bet your ass I'd have a guy monitoring this project regularly, it's free in-depth market research.. What you guys think???

(not that it really matters, I personally would welcome it)

Well not everything about the project is discussed publicly, so they wouldn't be able to learn about everything, and even then I actually kinda doubt that they would keep an eye out it right now anyways. We haven't had any major news since the first tech demo, so after we get another release and get some media attention again I'm sure there's a higher chance of them looking at this.

Everytime when I finish a level Sonic 2, I jump around the Egg Prison, boring myself. How about a (voiceless) taunt to celebrate?

I think everyone does that regardless, the jumping around, that is. :P

On a side note, I was looking through some old tech demo art just because I was comparing some things to see how stuff has evolved since then (I find it very interesting to look at the history of this project), and I just thought I'd post a little something from the tech demo with something new. I just felt everyone should have a clear example of what's changed with the level art in the past year. Especially since there aren't really any side-by-side comparisons of the art at all. Well, there are, but only for Sonic. :P I would post some items like springs or something as well, but I don't think there were any remastered items used in the tech demo at all. I find that to be a bit of a shame, but oh well. Enjoy stepping into the past.

PS I still may change some things about the platform, so for those of you that suggested things in the other thread, I still have to look into those.

    Working on my art!
I don't like that idea but it would be cool to have the Chaos Emeralds rotate around him while transforming.

Then what is it that you don't like? The swirling emeralds seem to be the only major difference besides the extra sparkles.

He's talking about the zoom effect, although I see little that could possibly be game-breaking or ugly. A short zoom in, zoom out and back on track.

Sounds like a good idea to me, as long as the transformation won't last for longer than usual... I'm only afraid that the graphics might look a bit odd/blurry when zooming in.

I don't think zooming in would be a good thing in this. It would reduce the visible area around the player, so if you're in a dangerous place, you may lose track of what's happening around you and end up dying. It's hard enough to control super sonic to begin with.

I think I both of these statements are valid myself.

For the 2nd one though, to me the way it could be done is that since Sonic actually comes to a standstill when he's turning Super, that would be the ideal time for a very quick 'zoom in' (how on Earth you're going to pull that off - and make it look good - on a 100% 2D Sonic game I don't know), then zooming out and continue playing.

Well for one thing I thought pretty much everything here was vector graphics. That wouldn't really be an issue. :P

...But they're converted to raster before being put in the game.
