    Was the original coded to hurt you if you landed on the big fuckoff spikes sticking out of its shell?

    I mean, if not, then it could be altered so that they do, making the method of attack to roll into the front of it. Also means you have to have the momentum to stay in a roll long enough to hit it while it's dashing at you.

    Just a thought, anyway

    Well guys, I had a few ideas we could possibly do for Sonic 2 HD. I'm not sure if they'd work well or not, but I'll list 'em anyways:

    1.) Sonic 3&K-styled cutscenes. By this, I mean show Sonic going somewhere or doing something once the capsule has been opened and the zone has been cleared. For example, at the end of EHZ, have Sonic run to the enterance of CPZ(make the outside look like a building or something, but only show the enterance) and go into the building to start CPZ, or at the end of HTZ, Sonic can end up finding a cave enterance(looking closely the same as some of the stuff from MCZ) and then spin-dashing through it. It'd take some work to make some of the stuff to do this, but I think it'd add a nice little touch to the game.

    2.) Maybe make it so Robotnik's boss music change accourding to the zone. I even tried to do an example to show what I mean by this(sorry if it don't sound great, did it just to demonstrate what I mean) : http://www.sendspace.com/file/cs7juq

    Other ways that could be done can be doing a jazz number for CNZ, an awesome rock version for MZ, and of course, a Country version for HTZ.


    Just a couple ideas of mine, but I hope you find them interesting and possibly useful for the game itself. :3
     
  3. I thought that the S3&K zone transitions really brought the different zones together logically and well. I'd love to see it in Sonic 2 HD. Also, that boss theme idea is quite original and cool.

    Death Egg (Silver Sonic) Boss Theme - Trance

    I believe this has been done already.

    As for the arrangements of boss themes stylized to fit the zones, it's an interesting idea. Blast Processing and ancara seem to have a knack for that sort of thing. How about it guys?

    E: surprise, surprise -- ancara was the one who suggested it in the first place. Go for it man.

    I dissagree for pretty much this entire list, barring ARZ, CNZ, and OOZ.

    EHZ - Regular
    CPZ - Grungy
    ARZ - see above
    CNZ - see above
    HTZ - Regular (but LRZ'd)
    MCZ - I honestly have no idea, but definately not that
    OOZ - see above
    MTZ - Remaster of the S2B boss theme
    WFZ - Epic
    DEZ - Heavy Metal
     
  8. I agree with RSS, except an orchestral arrangement for EHZ, Country Western for HTZ, Epic for WFZ (basically the EHZ one, but exaggerated). The Heavy Metal or Rock should be in DEZ, with either Hip Hop or Rock in MPZ.

    I don't agree with any one of these, It will make Sonic 2 seem unoriginal and bloated to be honest. Sonic 2 HD meant to be a High Definition Version of the Megadrive/Genesis version with additions that doesn't detract from the actual style of music, art and gameplay or feeling in any way. Like I am the one to talk here cause I am a noob :words:

    I'll try to help with music-making once I've got the time and if I feel like doing it, not to mention the preparation bit (I have a Keyboard and a Mac, but no Midi connection and no software... yet)

    I can't fathom how you could think having unique boss tracks means being unoriginal. Not deterring from the feel of original soundtrack is THE goat, but there is nothing stopping us from offering it as an option. This is an idea I've dreamed about myself for a while now and it would be awesome to see it realized. I do think though that if this would actually be an option it'd be best if the music is done by the composer of the approved music for the actual stage itself. The boss music should include, but not be restricted to, the original instruments of the stage bgm. I believe it would sound weird otherwise.

    Don't let something as trivial as your social status effect your posting your idea's and contributions to the project. As long as you type sensibly and do a little research before asking certain questions you'll be fine.

    or would the addition of a 4th options box cause your minds to explode because the original game only had three?

    and finally, a master option;

    With these options, you may as well be playing the original. The only option that is called for would be one that changes the style of the music playing, and even that is iffy.

    Not to mention, I'm pretty sure of it being illegal. If you put every option on classic, we're handing out Sonic 2 for free, which is pirating.
    Anyway, we've hit menu discussion. This could be interesting. Perhaps I'll draw out a couple menus later for an ordering session.



    PS: ...speaking of ordering, the database is outdated. It needs a revamp. :colbert:
