  1. We might as well stop arguing about this. It's not going to make a difference. :)

    Indeed Meph, :)

Proceeding this will continue hurting our development time and not helping it AT ALL.

S2HD development and character study/creation has been an open door for anyone since its beginning.
Get a look at Character Art Topic, Items and see all the comments with transition to Uber. (including Sonic, Starpost, Springs, Signpost, with all the welcomed added details). People loves it as much as we do creating the art! :)
If some of you (not including the bandwagoners, friends or who never actually ever cared for the project) do not like it, do yourself a reason and let us make the game. We work much better in our free time into a relaxed context.
You'll have time to throw out all your comments on New completed art upon Alpha comes out, as just anyone on the web sites, blogs and Sonic fans will do.

On a final note as per the SET Uber-Style,
I want the game to look coherent and as immersive as possible, Uber-Shading ensures the painted BGs flowing perfectly with characters, enemies,Items and special FX.
Geoge Kamaitani's Odin Sphere, uses rasters as Backgrounds (which we actually use), creates pixel perfect and antialiased vector based animations for characters, enemy and items (without colour steps). That's the only analogy with Odin Sphere I've written and ever meant.

    Now,

If you had something to propose your alternative awesome Art, then by any means do it on the relative topics! ;)

Truer words have never been spoken. One last thing, though!

You need to realize that there's a world outside of this forum. The reason you never get any real criticism is because everyone who can't stomach what you've been doing here has most likely given up and stopped caring about the project altogether. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure why they've decided to make a big deal out of this now, a year and a half later when switching gears really isn't an option, but the fact that you're getting this backlash now should be proof enough that, no, not everyone loves your art! You can go right on ahead ignoring the advice everyone's giving you because you and your team are too stubborn and ignorant to realize you're doing something wrong, but don't complain when you're the only ones who actually give a shit about the game if/when it actually is released.

Where's the fucking logic in this. You want us to wait about another year or two before complaining, when we've got issues with the art now and you're going to be even less likely to comply after having made more progress?

Are you... Are you retarded? Honest-to-god lead paint retarded? Or did you just completely skip over everything I just said? Odin Sphere's sprites used no vectors at all. It was all raster, okay? You don't need vectors to create "pixel perfect and antialiased" lines. Set the DPI on any raster document high enough and you can make anything look that smooth. Stop using Odin Sphere to push your nefarious agenda, because if Odin Sphere is truly what you were aiming for with this project, you went about doing things in the absolute worst possible way.

If it counts for anything, I think most of the work done on this project looks great so far.

I reeeally don't want to get involved (too many smart people :psyduck:), but I felt like at least mentioning it. Being as, well, 3 other people just did.

I have absolutely loved the art being developed for the Sonic 2 HD project. In fact, the S2HD project was one of the main reasons I joined in the first place; I saw this project, realized it wasn't something archived from a few years back, and joined up so I could watch the project's progression over time (that, and I wasn't in any Sonic-related communities, which was killing me).

Even if the art isn't perfect or of professional quality (which I thought it was [of professional quality], but what do I know), I still think it's looking absolutely fantastic. Just my opinion on the matter, I guess..

We know you're not happy with the way things are going Ritz. You've expressed that much in the past. At length. You've made your point, now feel free to move along. I can speak for the staff when I say the rest of us are.

Our thanks go out to those who continue to support the project regardless of speedbumps along the way. We're doing our best to make sure you'll not be disappointed.

That are good flash skills using the morph shapes interpolation my friend. Good job n-n

  13. Nice. You've done a good job there. ;)

And now for something completely different. Do you remember back in 1992 when Sonic 2 was heavily criticized for the two player mode? It was mainly because the screens were squashed. In S2HD, why don't we have the screens side-by-side instead with the correct ratio?

There's a big discussion on the split screen for multiplayer and it's features back on page 90.

I'm not sure if a final decision for the display was ever concluded though.

Just a little question, will the pause between the changes be as short as it is there - or is it *just* to show the smoooth animation process? I guess it'll have a longer pause in the final one

I just want to say I'm loving everything that's been done so far! Sure there are the Grumpy's out there who wants to ruin it for everyone, but don't let them stop this from becoming something special!

Don't worry, the animation frame times won't be looping that fast! :)

Anyway Thanks guys, S2HD Staff loved all your support (including those private messages! ;)) and we promise to continue doing our very best! ^^
Being a quite laborious staff does not mean we won't need your contributions eh! Keep it up with your great contributions and concepts, we'll especially need some more conceptual work with TVs blinking animation or on the Flicky as we'll soon need them to be finalized.

  20. Someone should make a HTML table and use that as a background. Then we could see it in action. :D
