The blur moves like that to give the impression of the wheel effect, because he's putting his foot up for a large step then slamming it down incredably fast, giving the blur.

It's the "motion" blur you're talking about. They don't draw the actual shoe, just the blur. Looks wierd and retarded on the drawing, but on the actual animation, it comes out nice. Your animation is missing this entirely. A much better example of this being done would be on Cammy's Sprites from Alpha games. All frames playing at the same speed. Specific frames delayed to show the actual frames.
Well, I'm not going to argue with someone alot better then me on this subject, but I'd rather keep the sprites, considering I've grown fond of them. My apologizes if you don't like them, though.
But... they're not good. Why would you keep sprites with fundamental—and glaring—animation issues that prevent them from being as good as they can possibly be? As it stands, they're not even pleasant to look at, let alone be considered proper from an aesthetic perspective. Honestly, if all you were going to do is disregard legitimate constructive feedback, then why did you even bother posting the thing? Chimpo told you what you need to do; you just need to do it.
Dusk Drive has some new graphics. So, have a video. This is also the first footage of the Static Curl, which stops your movement for a fraction of a second, then shoots Sonic down. You can use it to fall faster, or actually slow your fall. I do both in this video. Audio is shit, I'm afraid. Turn your speakers off; you'll thank me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWN1x6ilobE

I like the background very much. Try editing the tiles of the foreground too, because it looks boring to have a new background in the same old ghz, it doesn't fit. Where is the background from btw?
It's the Background of the Sonic 3 title screen... And thanks... I might change it... I don't know... It looks kinda cool with the level.
Figuring out the SonicCD, not easy but fun. I'm planning on making a Chaotix themed hack with different zones, music, and art. The way my hack is right now you play as a different character depending on which zone you are in. Its going to be a slow process due to lack of free time but I think I can get it done. Sorry for the odd image size, too lazy to change.
Brilliant! Did you add his special moves yet? Since if you didn't, that will still be sonic, wearing a costume.
Yea, you're gonna want to change the character's mappings so you wont have to shrink his art so badly...

Each leg only has half of the complete cycle, but there's so much blue down there that we loose track of which leg is which, and one completes the animation of the other. When looking at the individual frames you can see that Sonic's right leg always in the left side of the sprite, it never goes to the right side, and vice-versa for Sonic's left leg. It's a very interesting trick, I was just wondering if it was intentional...! =)

Since the shoes have different colors, our brain can't use one to complete the animation of the other anymore. I hope I explained things better now. My question was if he intentionally made the half a cycle thing (which I think is pretty cool) on purpose, or if it was an accident while trying to implement what you suggested.
I stop hacking Sonic 1 for a while , and now I am working on my Sonic 2 Hack: Sonic 2 Overhauled. Some screenshots: Semi-Perfect Knuckles: Thanks to Puto for his S2K upmem dissasembly. Shadow(Fixed the palette): Tails: And a new awful and repetitive background: Well that's all.
