    I take it this is part of your Adventure Edition hack.

    Does this mean we might get Tails racing CPU Sonic in the future?

    Well... the thing about that is, that I have no idea how that would even work. Same for Amy, Big and Gamma really.

    I admit it sounds like it would be complex to program a full racing CPU for Sonic (CPU Tails I suppose could give a head start, but that's still very limited since it pretty much can't progress anywhere without 1P).

    Amy might be easier if you omit ZERO (is there programming for any 'stalker' badniks in the Gens/MD games?), but Gamma and Big don't even have full sprite sheets, let alone resources for programming homing shooting and fishing.

    I take it by the screenie that Knux can sense more than one emerald on the radar at once. :D

    Wouldn't demo playback work fairly well for Sonic? They can't collide with each other anyway. I know you'd have to take badniks and monitors being destroyed into account, so maybe that wouldn't work. CPU Tails following path nodes instead of another player would work well, yes?

    This isn't Sonic 2 Adventure 2 Edition. + - Also the radar wasn't even functional in that screenshot.

    For the first, I'd imagine it be slightly similar to how demos operate... though I could be off on that.

    For the second, I think that the Flybot in Launch base zone, or the Batbot in Carnival Night zone would be ideal as a base.

    Having Sonic simply play back prerecorded input probably wouldn't work. In fact you could potentially have problems with any system that relies on Sonic interacting with objects in the level that may be moved or destroyed by the player. It'd have to be a ghost moving along a predefined set of points.

    ZERO following Amy wouldn't be hard at all, what would be difficult for me are his attacks.

    How did Sonic work in SA1 exactly? Could he interact with Tails or other removable objects?

    Well the attacks are extra bells and whistles anyway, he could hurt Amy just by running into her like in Advance 2 special stage.

    Looking nice by the way.

    There's nothing quite like the bridges in Mystic Cave Zone in any of Tails' SA1 levels.

    Could you do something like in Generations with the ghost Sonics? Like maybe make it so that the prerecorded Sonic is kind of like a ghost so if it comes across something that doesn't exist yet or something that the player altered it would just go about doing what it did in the initial playthrough (So, for example, if you were Tails and you hadn't lowered the bridge yet, you would see Sonic jump on the pulley switch, not activate the bridge, and just float through the wall and he would appear to be walking on air)?

    I could have worded that a lot better but do you kind of get where I'm going with this?

    That sounds a lot like what I just said. The only way I could see this working is if I change the game to load chunks from ROM and have it write Sonic's position and mapping frame to ram every frame. Then I play through the levels as Sonic and make a savestate when I'm done to extract the path. Then I make an object that follows the recorded paths and I guess if it reaches the end of its path you die.

    You could record a "ghost" Sonic going through the level in advance, and then when the game starts, have Sonic use Tails' AI to follow that ghost Sonic. That way he'd be able to clear some of the obstacles in a reasonably intelligent way.

    Still not sure it would work, but it would be better

    Have you seen how Tails follows Sonic? Because I don't think that would work.

    It definitely wouldn't work... Tails' AI movement is among the buggiest and wonkiest I've seen in most major game releases featuring an AI sidekick... ever.

    I imagine most of Tails' problems comes from the fact there's a reaction time delay - tightening that up could alleviate some concerns... although he's still likely to plow straight into enemies and whatever.

    The difference is if he's stuck at the bottom of a half pipe he'll (in theory) spindash out of it. There's still plenty of places to get stuck but it would be an interesting experiment

    He's had worse AI than in Sonic 2, anyway - no-one else remember the cheat-hidden AI Tails in Sonic Advance 1?

    I don't recall ever using that cheat... may as well give it a go now, actually. If its as bad as you imply it'd be worth a look.

    So I'm guessing Selbi has extended Sonic ERaZor and Cinossu has made a new level called Big Loop with Bad Art Zone.
