Some major adjustment on gloves needs to be done, however I believe you'll like it. For today I'll quit editing, I need some relax, you know.
Wow, great frame there. Keep up with the good work . I also like the Super Sonic frame in your avatar. It look ace.
Hrm... that one looks a bit fruity for my tastes. I guess the smile isn't a universal positive addition. :P
As for the latest sprite, for now I'd make his mouth a bit smaller and change his knee's shape a bit. And please add him a tail. =O
sumthing moar lik tis? pls Also, I replaced your Sonic 2 sprite, because that was a blurry, too-much-flood-fill, incorrectly trimmed mess.
I personally think those sprites should have been tweaked by SEGA in the first place, so they wouldn't have looked so out of place. =| EDIT: Neo's shading in Sonic's head looks quite good. I had just noticed the shines had a wierd outline and he seems to have fixed it, and the colors look a bit more faithful as well.
Before changing anymore the smile thing, I want everyone to notice that: 1)We accepted Sonic's smile expression and eyes as this: I doubt that completely changing every frame's smile would benefit the animation flow. The gold ring edit I did is just an "edit" from Blue. A proper "gold effect" could be attained but we need more dark shades which imply I would make a vector art for it, but than I prefer to focus on Sonic for the next months.
Changing the smile on every frame can be beneficial in the sense that it portrays the rotation of Sonic's head. You don't want him to have the same face in all 8 walking frames. :P
I think changing his smile a little depending on the frame could indeed benefit Sonic's look, since he's just doing different stuff. EDIT: But we should really wait for the other frames, then apply any changes depending on how everything looks.
Smile change try: That's exactly what I want to mean. I'm doing little changes for perspective purposes, but small ones. If in the end changing them will give better results, I'll do that. EDIT: ICEKnight LOL we both edited two times.
By the way (and since the next frames are gonna use similar shading for the head), I suggest you change those outlines Neo fixed, before continuing. EDIT: Oops edit.
Ok, that's it. Thanks everyone for contributions, I'll move onto next frame. (Not today, hell I cannot go away from Illustrator's window!! Hehe!!)
*edit* seems like you've sorted it Great job there! *edit 2* Something seems strange about the legs on there.. Whenever I look at the improved version, I keep thinking to myself that his left leg looks like it's his right leg somehow... it might be the colouring on it perhaps - I think it could be that the shadow of Sonic's left leg looks like it's 'in line' with the shadowing of his stomach. I suppose we won't notice it when it's animated, anyway. :P speaking of colouring, I think Sonic's right leg [his blue skin/fur(?)] could do with it being a slightly lighter blue on the front half of his leg - like the highlight on his toe/sneaker Also the shadowed parts are a little touch too dark in comparison
Wow, I work my ass off to make that sprite look right and all you care about is that stupid line around his eyes? Guess that's the last time I ever do graphical work to please someone other than me.
The thing to watch for with the rings is the coloring; the original shading to me looked a bit more brass than golden, and I think it would look a bit more golden if the darker shades of the yellow color would get just a tad orange.
