One thing I loved from the Q&A was the juxtaposition of fan expectations vs the reality of a lot of things. E.g. People often scream about how writers should "Play the Games!" And virtually the entire panel said. "Nah mate, I had no idea what I was doing. Flickies island was too complicated didn't bother with it or anything else after that!"
Shame. Also, are you sure he's only doing a cover? Just curious as he's listed under R1 1.15 on that Solicitation thing, which I have no idea what it means but seems to be different from the Cover A, B listings above it. Of course, I've no idea what any of that means, if someone could explain so I better understand, please?
As far as I know, RI is to do with the rarity of variant covers that get distributed to retailers. In this case the ratio for Richard Elson's cover is 1:25, so if a shop orders 26 copies, 25 of them will be covers A, B, C or D, and one will be Elson's.
I went back to this link and unfortunately it's gone. The site has become filled with spam posts and although some of the previous legitimate pages are still on there, that one isn't. And it doesn't seem to be saved on either archive.org or archive.is.
RI 1:15 - Retail Incentive 1:15. For every 15 normal issues a comic book store orders, they get one of the RI 1:15 covers (or at least that's roughly how I remember it working). It's an incentive for retailers to order more issues, and for customers to ask for more issues to be ordered in case they want one of the RI covers. Elson's only doing that one cover yeah, I'm the one drawing the Kitching story
Shame. Not because you're drawing it, of course, but that the two aren't together for one more story, it would've been a childhood dream come true after they closed out Sonic the Comic. But I look forward to seeing your work on Nigel Kitching's story! I'll just have to try and nab the Elson Cover. I'd love if Elson's cover uses a variation of the old Sonic the Comic logo, just changing the Comic to Hedgehog.
