Sonic is the product of many years of brand development. Shadow doesn't have this luxury, sadly. So I hope they take this opportunity and brush up his lousy image a bit. @Kilo You should add the colon to the thread title. Blink and you miss it – it's actually "Fearless: Year of Shadow".
https://cinemacon.com/schedule#horizontalTab5 I don't know it anyone has mentioned this but this week is cinemacon (convention for movie theater owners) and every year at cinemacon Paramount tries to do a huge announcement for an upcoming movie. I remember last year they got Seth Rogen to come to promote the TMNT movie. This was the event that the Joker 2 trailer premiered at last night too. I don't think it's a coincidence they chose this week to start the "Year of Shadow". Paramount might be revealing who's playing him this week.
I'd go so far as to say they might show a trailer. Yes- Filming only finished very recently. However, I kind of doubt the studio's pipeline is as linear as getting all of filming done and then doing the CGI, I imagine they were sending the animation studios the footage as they were recording. So I'm hoping for a trailer.
Let's see, if i recall correctly, we got the Sonic 2 trailer in November, with the movie releasing the April after. That's about a 5-6 month gap, right? This would be around an 8 month gap, which I feel is too big for a trailer so soon.
I do find 23 years to be... quite the anniversary to celebrate. Is it because Sonic and Shadow are both June 23 birthday guys?
There's this silly little indie film from this start up called Paramount that's going to feature Shadow as the central advertised chatacter at the end of the year. That might have something to do with it.
And I hear an obscure dev team from some podunk in Japan is working on a little game, coming out late this year, featuring Shadow as the main character. That might possibly be a factor.
Be nice if it happens but I'm not holding my breath. At the end of the day it's just a marketing campaign because he's going to be in the movie.
This essentially feels like what the "Fast Friends" campaign was last year and establishing Shadow as another pillar for the franchise along with Sonic and his crew.
Honestly I am not a huge Shadow fan, or even a hater, I'd say I'm more neutral, but I would love them to add Shadow DLC to previous games, namely Origins (even if he is just a "skin" over sonic with no unique moves), Frontiers and Properly add him to Superstars.
Personally I am livid that I, as a classic fan who just got an entire new game 6 months ago, am in no way being catered to with this. + - Luckily, as a Shadow fan, I am ecstatic that I am being catered to with this.
