So, what's your favourite Sonic Game Gear/Master System game and why? I've always loved the Master System version of Sonic 1 and Sonic Chaos. Sure the physics in these games aren't that great, but they're fun nonetheless. Come on, who doesn't love the epic running scene before the train boss in triple trouble? And isn't Mecha Green Hill Zone just awesome?

Time to refuel your nostalgia and get posting!

  2. Sonic 1, because It's really the only one I've played though and I just love Bridge Zone's music. I also like Triple Trouble, because I was the first Game Gear game to introduce spindash.

The ones I enjoyed the most were the first one and Triple Trouble.

The one that wins the prize for "most want to see in 16 bit" would be Sonic 2.

    MIDI-to-SMPS-conversions, mostly. Takin' requests, too.
Easily Sonic Chaos. It's just a very enjoyable trip down memory lane for me personally, at least the Master System version.

Game Gear version has some tracks and other stuff changed shittily, though.

  5. I got GG Sonic 2 and loved every minute of it.

Oh and I got past that stupid 1st boss. :D

Where I got stuck was Scrambled Egg Zone. :(

Personally my favorite probably is a tie between Sonic 1 GG and Sonic Triple Trouble. They seem to bring out the "Sonic" feel in the GG titles the most.

I like the first game. Sonic 2 would probably be placed highly if it wasn't so friggin' hard while Chaos would if it wasn't easy. I like Mean Bean Machine for it's Puzzle Mode as well, even if it's still much lower quality than it's MD/Gens counterpart (or even the 8 bit Puyo Puyo it's modified from).

Sonic 1. Sonic 2 was purposefully Nintendo Hard (on the first freakin level), and Chaos & Triple Trouble seemed to bore me for some reason.

    I DONE MAKED GAMES.
Is this topic limited to just Sonic games? Because apart from being in the General Sonic Discussion forum, the title doesn't specify. And all the Sonic games on the Game Gear are pretty terrible really.

Also BOY I LOVE TOPICS THAT ARE PREDISPOSED TO REPLIES CONTAINING A TITLE. :psyduck:

Or between the Sonic titles, Triple Trouble would be my favorite. I love how colorful the levels are, despite it's hardware limits.

Heads up, people—if you're going to reply to this topic, try and add some actual reasoning behind your choices. We don't need another list topic without any discussion value.

Also, given that this is General Sonic Discussion, it goes without saying that this topic is limited to Sonic titles for the systems.

I like Chaos a lot. But I like them all, even Blast was fun to play. It's a shame there isn't an official version of Triple Trouble for the SMS, because I don't like the tiny screen of the Game Gear.

I have to say Sonic Chaos. I love the soundtrack, and it's the only one I can make it far in. >.> After Chaos, it's Triple Trouble, and One. I didn't like Sonic 2 in 8-bit at all really, I only liked Crystal Egg Zone and it's soundtrack.

Hey is the fan-port for that still being continued?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMyT7DRj-T0

Chaos got one, though it was a bit sloppy, badly refined graphics like for the title screen and a more limited soundtrack (I liked the MS Gigapolis theme though).

With that in mind while the 'Sonic and Tails' games were good the engine didn't seem as refined, a lot floatier and clunkier than the original two.

So how about Sonic Spinball on the GG/SMS, and Sonic Labyrinth?

    ...

    ...anybody? :v:

Personally, I love Triple Trouble and Chaos. They just seem like solid games for the Game Gear. Beyond that, I quite enjoy Blast, which I think is underrated and easily forgotten. I, of course, can't forget Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 (apart from hating the hang-gliding and Doodlebug Mecha), mainly since Sonic 1 being the first GG title I fully completed.

I must say, Sonic Chaos holds a special place in my heart. It's the nostalgia factor. Plus, Mecha Green Hill is incredible. I really enjoy the music from that zone.

Sonic 2 on the Gamegear is prehaps the hardest Sonic game I've ever had the good fortune to play. Of course, that's due to the sight restriction resulting from the tiny screen.

Never had a Master System, however. Is the field of view better on that?

I think both versions are difficult. :\ Also, I forgot about Labyrinth. I love the soundtrack, and the game is okay.

The MS version is a bit easier, though it's let down by the lack of the proper good ending music just for that real sense of victory (as well as being one of the best tunes in the 8 bit series).

Labyrinth and Spinball aren't as terrible as many suggest but they do tire quickly, Spinball GG is actually one of the dullest Sonic games I've played.

By the way have you guys heard these? (though I get the idea someone here might have made them):
