Favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Sonic CD, but only parts of both.

 

Way too hard to choose, but I'd say both the US/JP Sonic CD, Sonic Adventure, and Sonic '06. Sonic 3 & K as well.

Knuckles Chaotix gets an admirable mention.

 

My top two favorite Sonic soundtracks involve Sonic CD JP, and Sonic R. I'm a sucker for europop and other types of electronic music, and they fit the bill nicely.

 

Sonic The Hedgehog CD Japan and Sonic Adventure. Hands down.

Sonic Adventure's best song: Calm After the Storm ~ Egg Carrier

 

Basically anything by Howard Drossin and Richard Jacques. This includes Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic Spinball, Sonic R, and the Saturn version of Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island. Otherwise, I thought Sonic Rush Adventure had some of the best themes on a handheld title (Coral Cave and Sky Babylon, most notably).

Oh yeah, forgot to mention Chaotix too.

Sonic 3D Blast PC/Saturn Version.

That game has a wonderful soundtrack, hell, I got terrified with the boss song, when I first heard it. If I had to pick a favourite from that soundtrack, I would say the Final Boss song from it.

 

Sonic 1 MD, Sonic 1 MS/GG, Sonic CD JP, Chaotix, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic 3D Flickies' Island Saturn/PC, Sonic R, Sonic Pinball Party, Sonic Advance 3, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG (06). And Sonic tH remix. :p
Ones I only like parts of the soundtrack from: SA: About 1/3 of the songs. Favourites are Egg Carrier, Theme of E-102 "Gamma", Crazy Robo and At Dawn. SA2: BGM of Knuckles's and Rouge's stages. And a few other lonely songs from some of the other games.

 

I think it has to be Sonic 2, purely for the technical achievement.

So many genres, not to mention Casino Night sounds like a Big Band song on only 5 FM CHANNELS (plus DAC and PSG), incredible really.

 

Other than Megamix? Sonic 2. Always end up humming along whenever I play it. The ending would be nothing without that music, too.

 

Its hard to say. The one thing Sonic does right is music. SA1 is definately up there for the fact that the music is just right.

 

The Sonic CD soundtrack is good just for listening to, the JP one fits the game better but isn't as good on it's own

Also I really like Sonic Adventure 2 musics, it was the first game soundtrack I got

Sonic Riders has totally crap soundtrack... I'll replace the ADX files it has with ones from SA1 and SA2.. or some other game/band/whatever.

 

Metallic Madness Past is just one of my favourite tracks of all time. So Sonic CD Jap is obviously at the top others I enjoy are Sonic R, Sonic 1 8-bit, Sonic 2 8-bit and Sonic 3D, a track doesn't have to be complex to be great, it's the core melody that grasps you.

 

I'd say Sonic CD Jap. And for the worst soundtrack ever... Sonic Rush.

 

Sonic Rush was awesome. I love Back 2 Back and Right There, Ride On.

 

Sonic Adventure, Sonic 2, and Sonic CD, which coincidently, also happens to be my top three for the series in general.

Speaking of music...There were a few tracks done by Tweaker for Sonic XG that were posted on the forums, but now that Sonic Xg is going to be fused with sonic retro, will those tracks still be used ?? They were great IMO!

 

Aside from my aforementioned favourites, I like all of Jun Senoue's work. His style of rock is just mindblowing.
