It just seems that releasing nice discoveries is cult language. Excellent work all those who found. Good show.
No, h_scrolling happens when your standing still, paralax is when you move. Ex. background in EHZ=Paralax background DEZ=H-Scroll
Exactly what I was about to suggest after reading that. I get it now. You learn something new everyday here!
Some people have been saying there are subtle music differnces, and drx found something that he says could be music. From $F8000 on, where music is, v00 and v01 are exactly the same. Sorry, No music differences between the two. Unless I'm too tired to use the "compare" on hex workshop right.
Some one noted that you could get through here in rev. 00 with Sonic. Well I can do it with Super Sonic in rev. 01. (Any guesses why?)
Maybe it's because you have debug turned on? And where, exactly, are you trying to go? I explored pretty much the whole of Emerald Hill Zone on v0, and couldn't find any differences.
It's EHZ act 2. I think it's for the same reason as here, and it's just hard to do it for that spot. Maybe not. EDIT: Here, animated GIF.
You can get through all the EHZ2 secret walls in a rev 01 as regular Sonic as well. You just have to approach them right. I'll give the debug coordinates from directly in front of each secret wall. Top line, since that's the sprite position and not the viewport. 0C6C02CC This one's easy. You just have to make a low jump over the spikes just before it in order to be able to go through it. It leads to a ring box. 166E044C This one's easy too. All you have to do is approach it from the lower left and jump directly into it. If you hit the spring and go up, then drop back down, it'll be blocked off and you'll have to go to the left a bit. You can also get to this one after coming out of the next one (which is also how many people do it as Super Sonic). This one also leads to a ring box. 189102CC This one's also pisseasy. All you have to do is gain a lot of speed, hit the short curve below it, and hang to the left. This one leads to a 1-up box after you drop down. This is also where, if you're Super Sonic (or if you've still got the speed shoes from earlier in the act), you can come out to the right, and keep holding right, and Sonic will enter the previous wall. Also, even as regular Sonic, you can drop down from this wall without hitting the spring, and be able to jump up into the previous wall. 1FEB044C This one is also pisseasy (as I said, they all are). This works the same as the second one - approach it from the lower left and jump directly into it. And again, if you hit the spring and then drop back down, it'll be blocked off. This one leads to a shield. I just confirmed all of these on my rev 01 cart, as regular Sonic.
EHZ is exactly the same, because it was basically finished in the beta version, even the ugly tile that's found at the end of act two is there. The level layouts are all the same, I think; from what I found. The only thing that I've seen diffences in is object placements and visibillity.
Oh, I didn't realize it, but mine is a Rev. 00 cart, too. The only way I can really tell is by that signpost in Casino Night. Interesting, great work drx, and everyone who found stuff, too. We have some decent answers about this now... not ones we really wanted to find, but that's all right.
...lack of dumpers... And for a long time, people weren't looking for stuff like that. When they dumped ROMs, it was to play them, not to hack them or scrounge every last bit of use out of them, you know what I mean?
Oh Shit. It doesn't look like we're going to find any 'GCZ', WoodZ, or HPZ tiles. I've came up with some Game Genie codes to switch those levels in, but you get the same thing that you get in v.01. I might be wrong but try the codes out. 'GCZ'- ACLA-AWCY (Casino Night Zone) HPZ- ACLA-ATCY WZ- ACLA-AECY For diferent levels besides CNZ, replace CY with any of the following, theres kind of a pattern to it it's: C0-CNZ act 2 (the no. 0 not O) C2-HTZ act 1 C4-HTZ act 2 C6-MCZ act 1 C8-MCZ act 2 D0-OOZ act 1 D2-OOZ act 2 D4-DOESN'T WORK you go to EHZ That's all I have time for right now try different combinations, after/before D/C use B, I think. Just use nos. using even nos. REPEAT, I REPEAT, DO NOT USE D6 IN THE ABOVE CODE, IT WILL FUCK YOU SO HARD LIKE IT DID ME, IT GIVES YOU THE REDSCREEN! That's why I don't have time anymore. EDIT: YES I know that Sonic 2 v.00 came in a zip file, but my archiver deletes the archive after the data has been extracted, I know I'm OCD about space on the HD. EDIT 2: n00bs note. Yes, the codes will only work in level select.
Sorry to sound so n00bish -_-' but topic?? This or is there one that's I haven't yet found? If it's this one, then all I saw was a big Quote. Aurochs(below)- oh HE?! Damnit somethings wrong with me today, guess it's cause school started back.
He was referring to the original post. =P EDIT: That "big quote" was the meat of the topic. Go back and read it.
