Yes, because it's clearly of pristine quality. :P

Sounds like fun, but not until I have brought this issue to the manager at the store I bought the game from. Assuming that all the stock of this game on the game is the same, they'll have no reason to believe my copy is simply an attempt to get a quick buck.

If the other copies of the game are legit, you'll probably be shrugged off by the manager for trying to gain money through exploitation. In the likely case they have more copies, you'll likely have no issues with the manager (depending on their attitude). Hey, you may even get some brownie points and something free. :v:

Is it possible that this is the format the disc is sent to the publisher, but something went awry, and it got burned like that?
I mean, it has a checksum, it has a control. It's like they sent the disc, but rather than the contents getting burned, it was literally what was sent that got burned, instead?

That doesn't explain the lack of a SEGA logo on the cover box though. :psyduck:

EDIT: Eh, it's on the back. You do have a point.

That actually sounds like a logical explanation. However, I thought they would check what they're burning before they do so.

I really doubt it's a legit copy either way. At most it's one of those zero-day leaks, but nothing more. Don't try to make this look like it's legit because it obviously isn't.

The PEGI logo on the box is also different from the one it was released with. The fake uses the modern standard, while the real one uses the old standard. As far as I know games aren't changed that were released before the standard changed.

Just to see if it's a nationwide problem. If I get the same situation, then there is a major problem somewhere.

Returned my original copy (not without keeping the contents of the disc) and got a new one. Since I'm at college at the moment I can't test anything, but it all looks to be the same.

New copy is exactly the same.

If I recall correctly, it is a legal requirement that all games are sold with health and safter warnings on a printed document. Is that correct? Or is it just companies trying to cover themselves? This game, unlike all of my others, has none.

    Suuuuue.

Or at least, give Morrisons a jolly good worry by pointing out that its probably pirated, so you are gonna ring the FACT people. :specialed:

I have a PC version of Mega Collection:

Disc looks exactly the same as his, but without the holographic text on the underside. Also instead of the "14548" in centre left, it has the (Australian) rating above the "PCDVD" image. Speaking of which, its labeled "PC DVD ROM" instead of just "DVD ROM". However, I think this is just an Australian requirement.
Boots up with an auto-run to an install screen.
Although the game itself won't run on my latest computer (some driver conflict or something) it always used to work, and still works on other computers I've tested.
Doesn't have a Health and Safety document, but then again, I'm Australian...
Cover scan wouldn't help (as it's published with a "Gamer's Choice" thing on the outside, kinda like Platinum PlayStation games) However, I can assure you that it has a SEGA logo on the front. (And within the 'original cover' box)
The back of the cover looks similar to yours, but with a different layout at the bottom. (Also note that that back cover matches the European version, NOT the American version, if you check the wiki)
Again, as I'm Australian, I can't comment on the PGEI rating, as my cover has the Australian rating (PG for "Mild Violence", for the record)
Mine also had no manual, but all the controls were stated in the options screen in the auto-run menu, and what gets through the menu was easy enough to figure out. (Note: The lack of manual is part of the "Gamer's Choice" brand, because the other "Gamer's Choice" game I have didn't come with a manual either)

Here's an image of the disk's contents (root folder)
    <img src="http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/3383/smcp.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />
And yeah, I'd go to the store manager about it...
